Nice set up! You have so many cool ideas :) . You’ve taken the traditional way of setting up a DF maze and put it on steroids   .

Too cool Tom, I wish you and the rest of the gang lived around here, we’d surly have some amazing games! :D

My compliments.

That took creativity and work!

One question:
How stable is the keep in the background?
What do you use to maintain stability while playing?
Or is this just a show piece to show what is possible with some mental application?

Additionally, I like the shadow boxes you are using for miniature storage.
Cool and effective idea!
I am hoping to remodel someday and have built in cabinets with glass doors.
Have to earn the money for the remodel first.
I do not pay for things on credit.
Nasty habit that is hurting too many folks out there.

the keep is very stable
my son ( 3 years old )can play on it without problem
i use DF boxes to make the differents nivels and i put a piece of wood ( i don't know the word in english "planche" in french )

I don't know if i will play with this keep, it's maybe just a try to show what DF can do

on this keep, i just like the idea of a chief who is giving orders to his men. He is on an upper level and he can see all the lake. But a player can hit him from the lake with a good "arc".... the favorite weapon of Legolas!!! ;)

Holy cow Tom, we need a few more off angle shots just to see how the whole melange fits together. Very nice work.

Braver than I. My 9yo plays with me, but I keep my 5yo at arms length when it comes to wargaming. He has a special elevated chair to watch from, but that is it.

In English it woud be "plank"; not very different from French.

Is "nivels" supposed to be "levels"?

you are right nivels is levels

and for my son, even if there are some risks to let him play with DF, i prefer that than let him watch TV all day....
Even if his favorite moovie is already "the lord of the ring" from jakson

well, he will have some good base to roll/role play later 8)

Actually we never had the television problem. When my wife and I got married, we were still attending university. We decided that a television would eat too much time. We have never changed that attitude so 16 years later, we still do not own one. Instead, we have well-used library cards and I own almost 8,000 books.

We see the occassional movie on disc at my in-laws and the even more rare movie at the cinema, but not too often. We do not allow the boys to see any "PG-13" movies so they have not seen any of the LOTRs ones. We get by on simpler fare for them. Then again, my wife and I do not watch any "R" films. I get enough violence in my after-action reports & histories and the news and we both get enough of the intimate parts in our own room. The third factor of language we both can do very much without; we do not cuss and do not like hearing such vulgarities. That is just our movie standards.

As far as the boys I have kept things simple so far: Chess, Checkers, Jetan, Go, Risk (4 forms), Crimson Skies CMG, BattleTech CCG and Yu-Gi-Oh CCG. Trying to get some of the basics of strat and tact going and then we will try harder games. My eldest has tried out some BattleTroops and Warhammer Quest, but I have moved him back to the other games to develop more skills. On the other hand, I try to keep them from as many computer games as I can. Development seems to occur more from tabletops.

It has been very pleasant posting with you Tom. Unlike some here, who only post for blood, I can have an intelligent interaction with you. You are not the only one, but there are a few individuals that just seem to need the confrontations. Oh well, takes all kinds.

Have a great weekend!
