Wizard Library 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Greetings everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster here.. :o)

There has been a lot of photos of peoples cool libraries lately, so I thought I would join the club.

Below you see my little collection of Thomarillion library pieces plus a couple of other pieces from different manufactures.

I only just started collecting Dwarven Forge about a year ago, but I have been lucky to have a good "hobby-saving" plus an very understanding wife, so my collection have already grown to be pretty descent.
Hailing from Denmark, haven't hurt either, as the European shop had almost all the sets still in stock, even the older traps sets.
The few that was out of stock, the US store/Ebay luckily still had.

So what can I say, I am addicted as everyone else in here, I guess.. :o)

Biowizard:
If you by chance should read this, thanks a lot for the acrylic rods you sold me, they are very cool and have already seen much use in our games.

Monkplayer:
Thanks for selling me the flexible roads, they are great and we use them a lot.

Law:
A quick question for you, if you should read this.
You use a small boat in some of the great photos you take, who makes it and where can I get one..?

Everyone else:
Thanks to you all for contributing with your knowledge to this great forum, it has been a goldmine of information and tips to a new collector like me.

Now about those library pictures, enjoy - PS: There are bonus points, if you can find the Thomarillion pieces that has been customized..! :o)

- Yea I know that mini badly needs to be repainted, it is a old one and I haven't got around to it yet.. :o)

Greetings zeepee, and what a first post!
Nice collection of Thomarillion you have there. I am also very interested with all the extras. All very well painted.

Really like to know where you got or made all those small map scroll you have in a wooden box & on the table. That looks really great!
I also have those potion bottles, I think they are a bit 'big' for 25/28mm - But the players in my group love them. They pick them up & keep them by their character sheets!!

So many things to say...

First, Welcome to the DF forum zeepee!
You really know how to make an entrance!

I like your library a lot; very good paint job! So many things to look at!
I also see a lot of accessories available from jahecker on eBay. I never got to buy those but I guess I should.

I'm glad you like my Flight Stands. I find them very cool too!

In regards to boats, there was a nice thread about which ones are available around (link).
My favorite ones are those from Shifting Lands (link and link)

p.s. I think I'll claim the extra points. The converted piece is the Thomarillion shrine that seems to have received a few GW extra skulls. There's always too many of those in GW Sets.

Hi Biowizard and Dandare,

Thanks for the kind words and the welcome.. :o)

My players love those potions too.

As Biowizard already correctly recognized, most of the smaller accessories are from Jahecker, he sells the potions, scrolls and maps on Ebay.

Thanks for the link Biowizard, I am sure going to contact him, that are some nice boats.. :o)

Nicely spotted, 10 points goes to you Bio. Can you find more..? :o)

zeepee, welcome to the forum. Awesome first post! Love all the details. I was compelled to click on each pic so that I could see all the little bits and pieces :)

Did you create the base for the Thomarillion statue? If so, very nice. Would you mind sharing where the vine on the base came from? I love the look of plants growing over fountains and statues, but have been unable to find vines with defined leaves (most foliage I've found is more mossy than leafy).

If I am correct, those bases are from Micro Art Studio.

Feymous, I don't know exactly where exactly zeepee got his foliage from but Scenic Express sells some foliage very similar to it (link). I bought some from them to cover my GW fortress and there was a nice tutorial video from Michael Tiskus from Terranscapes about them:

He started using this product for making Sorn's beautiful arena!

Whoa! Awesome awesome stuff! Fantastic painting and really great layout!

Stefan, I hope all the Thomarillion posts lately are starting to make you think a DF library would be a good idea! We're seeing a lot of people doing creative things with bookshelves, a real interest in having the option, and seeing how great DF looks with these kinds of accessories! I'm sure you could put the definitive DF spin on the idea!

Welcome to the forums, zeepee! Looking forward to more of your pics!

Oh, and that boat I use is from Grendel resin, I beleive they also originally produced some of the accessories you have shown. Maybe I'm mistaken. Grendel is mostly out of production now, but some places have access to their old molds. But if you Google "grendel" and "miniatures" and "boat" you'll probably find it. It was part of a set, I think it came with a dock.

All of Grendel's sculpts are still available, they are just no longer available through the US store megaminiatures.

Here you can find Grendel's boat: www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=227_40&products_id=2634

Awesome news, biowizard! I had heard they were gone, but then, many people have reported stories of hearing that DF was out of business, too, a rumor that briefly gained some momentum when disgruntled (and lazy) retail store owners talked smack after DF went direct-order-only.

There are many Grendel pieces I love that I've never found an equivalent for elsewhere, first and foremost being their awesome tavern kitchen stove piece. It fits in PERFECTLY with the DF tavern sets, and the brick ovens look awesome in a DF environment. It took me YEARS to find it, but I guess now SG is a little easier to get.

I need to pick up some grates and so on for my sewer!
