TOPIC: A Druid's home
#53769
A Druid's home 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Seeing Law combine the Woodland Set and Caverns so beautifully, as well as Feymous' excellent setup, inspired me to finally build something I had been kicking around for a while now. I always felt the Woodland set really fit for an elven or druidic build but could never think of how to do it with just the Woodland sets I have. Adding the Caverns fixed that problem.

Wow! That looks great!

I must say I am very jealous of those of you who have such great collections already. I wish I had known this product existed before the KS. Although, looking at the state of my wallet, maybe its a good thing.

I LOVE this setup!Everything fits together so flawlessly. Inspiring. Thank goodness it's Friday so that I have the next two days to play with DF :)

Did you make the river in the center of the setup? Very cool.

Thanks swcorwyn, Feymous, jasdotcom, and Stefan! I didn't have a game this week so making a setup took its place. It's always fun to experiment with my Dwarven Forge collection.
The river is something I picked up on ebay a couple years back with the intention of cutting into pieces. It is really just a straight length, about two feet long. I have three pieces like that. The rest of this piece is hidden under the floor tiles, from the right angle it looks like it starts flowing underground.
I second Stefan's call to consider getting the Woodland Set. I had not used it until now (I know, over a year since the preorders. I feel embarrassed). The sculpt is beautiful, really amazing.

That setup is fantastic. Wish I had the spare change to pickup woodland sets. I do have a question though, where are the larger trees from are they DF or something else? (sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm new to terrain).

Maybe we need a DF kickstarter for woodlands after caverns!!!

Thanks Quuids! The trees are a mix of some Woodland Scenics conifers and assorted trees I got from ebay. The best bet for trees on ebay is to search for railroad trees and terrain. Just make sure not to get HO size, they are too small. You can make your own as well. I know that Tom posted a tutorial of how he made his trees. You can search the forum and find it.
Or maybe Biowizard will read this and post the link. ;) I am amazed at how he always has the bookmarks for practically everything on the forum.

That is amazing!!!!! I absolutely love the raised Woodland door that the cavern "steps" lead to. It looks so great over the water. And I love the way you used the cavern corridor. Awesome stuff.
