Very well done, Law! The different sets work very well together in this setup, the transitions look very natural. Did you make the "broken wall" (second picture in the last post) yourself? It looks really cool. And I really like the atmospheric camera angle, great work! Thank you for sharing! :)

Kronos, The "broken wall" is a simple Catacomb wall with a crack being sculpted on one side by eskridge. Beautiful sculpt indeed, it fooled you!

Thank you for the info, biowizard! :)
I actually thought it was a conversion of a normal catacomb wall and I was interested to know if Law put a dremel to a normal wall and converted it himself. It's (again ) great work from eskridge. I sometimes toy with the idea to make a few conversions off Dwarven Forge pieces myself but I hesitate to do so. I just really don't want to ruin a perfect Dwarven Forge piece with my inexperience in conversions. Maybe we get pieces like that wall in the next catacomb set? That would be awesome. :)

Another great setup! As usual, your use of minis, accessories, and creative camera work bring the dungeon to life. I love the manor library.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys!

Funny thing about that "hole in the wall" of the Catacombs set. I'm really of mixed minds about it. On the one hand, the Catacombs set is one of DF's "asymmetrical" sets, in that the front and back of the pieces are not identical. There is a clear front to these, and I prefer it -- while the crumbling stones with skulls poking through is a nice accent here and there, I generally like to place the pieces facing "forward" with the tombs exposed etc. The portal is no exception -- from the front it's a clear piece of gothic architecture, with that cool skull at the top, and so on. From the back, it's a hole.

But there is something creepy and cool about seeing it from the back, and that is growing on me. Part of me still wishes the portal were like the arched doorways in the Den of Evil or the portcullis, so they'd look the same from either side. But it's neat to have the option of making a crumbled hole, as well, which has its own evocative power in a place like this...

I agree, that is an awesome dungeon crawl. :)

Is there a basement floor for the inn? I noticed it was raised.

Funny you should ask -- I wanted the dungeon and catacombs to be beneath the manor house, so I raised it. But then I made a little courtyard out "front" and had stairs rising to the manor entrance, which I only later realized was a mistake. Makes the dungeon appear to be on the ground floor. I should have raised the courtyard entrance as well to make it clear that the whole layout pretty much takes place under the earth and only the manor house is ground level. Ah well. NEXT TIME! ;)

Here are some pics I didn't post originally -- more close-ups of various niches in the layout...
