Heya L;

It is because of you, that I have ordered $200AUD+ worth of Reaper 'townsfolk'....

Thanks for the heads-up on the auburn color no-no.

I have received a bit of feedback from the Reaper web site, and I am now trying to decide white/blonde (young), or grey (old)....

Yes, there is alot of inking and drybrushing, and touching up to do on this mini. I will post him when I am finished. Here is the Beggar from that same 3-pack... My wife is going to paint up the scrumpet that came with the two guys....

This guy has a great 'look' in his eye, complete destitute hopelesness...

(This would be what I would look like if DF stopped producing scenery... hehehe)...

"Can you spare an underground lake and river set, m' brother?"

;)

Great paintjobs, you really are good at this. I can never get that much detail in the face, I just rest content with a solid inkwash that brings out some definition from a few feet away. I always mess 'em up if I try to do eyes beyond that. Once in a while I'll do it -- after being inspired by Cool Mini or Not, I put makeup on the recent Reaper scribe figure (the one holding her glasses on the top of her head).

And yeah, the Reaper townsfolk are great. I still don't have the newest set, but the others are fantastic. I ended up getting a lot of Grendel pub sets after seeing Tom's pics, partly because all my waitresses and strumpets and barkeeps etc. need a home. When I finally get my hands on the last one, the tavern kitchen, I am going to post a LOT of pics of a full DF inn. (complete with Santa blacksmith here working out in the stables...)

Wow! Coming from you that means alot, thankyou!

Well the race is on then, I guess... hehehehe

I am still waiting for the remnants of my two DF orders to arrive (all paid for which is good) and for my Reaper order to arrive, then I too will be on the hunt (as it were) for Grendel scenery. I have found a distributor here is Aus for the Grendel stuff, so I am well on my way.

Thanks again for the kind words.

DarkFather,

My Vote is For Black Hair with a Salt and Pepper Look to it... I Always Imagine Blacksmiths to have Dark Hair for some Reason, Anyway, the Lightness of the Salt And Pepper would still Set it off, but I think that by Doing the Base Hair Color Black you Distinguish it from all of the Traditional Red-headed Dwarven Blacksmiths out there... And From the Giants too... Which lets face it this Guy looks like a Giant... As to the Begger... Wow... I Love the Detail you bring out in your Miniatures... This Guys is Great, and Since I am not Currently Painting Stuff, It really makes me wish that WotC would Get over themselves and release some Non Collectable, Generally Useful Sets like Towns Folk... (Pre-painted Plastic I mean)...

Heya MLV;

Cool, great feedback from two prominent board users, I'm seriously surprised.. thankyou both.

I have decided on his hair color.

Black base, with Grey & Grey/White drybrushing...

Give him that old, overworked look...

DarkFather,

Surprized that the Feedback would be Great?...<Smirk>... Hey this Board is an Awsome Resource and You have Earned every bit of Praise for your great work... And that is my Less than Humble Opinion!

And Yes that Grey "Seasoned" old Wise Black Smith, that makes Impatient adventures Earn their Discounts by listening to a lot of "Back When I was but Lad..." Kinda Stuff can be found in almost any of "My" Small towns... He is Usually worth Listening to... Though I Have to admit that the Old "Bald" Blacksmith is really more Logical, since the Furnaces those guys work with get so Damn Hot!...Chuckle>...

Can't wait to see the Final Results...

Thanks. They most definitely are. Reaper has a huge range of .. 'non-combatants'.
