Magnetic levitation. 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Here is some picture about my latest project.
We already have some stuff to materialize 3 of the 4 elements : Earth, water and fire.
It is a long time that I was searching a solution to make some clouds levitating with magnets. Until now, it was always working with some nylon wire to maintain the equilibrium of the magnets.
But a few days ago, I found a stuff that makes real levitation, without anything maintaining the magnet.
I had to work a little bit on the DF ground because the magnet only levitates at +/- 3cm which is the high of a figurine.
The result is, I think, quite spectacular as I am now able to make anything fly for real !!! I made up a little cloud and a flying carpet, but you can also make dragon fly, cyclones, etc.

Here is some pictures

These are pretty cool pictures.

Where did you purchase the magnetic set-up?

Also I was wondered where the cloud, flying carpet, and cyclon are from.

Thanks!

The magnetic setup is from a french company (Pearl)
The cloud and the carpet is hand made, specially to fit the size of the magnet.
And the cyclones is a D&D mini.

Like it. Alas, I shall have stick to my clear acrylic flight stands, but they are definitely not as nice as that.

Nice work on the carpet and cloud.

Beautiful work on that carpet and cloud. I love them. If you ever get time to post a tutorial on making them, I'll be one of the first to read it! :)

For those of us that can not afford this fancy of a levitation for flying objects, can someone suggest the best clear plastic flying stands out there. I'm looking for some at various heights that are nice quality.

Totally awesome!!! Any plans to incorporate this into one of your games or Dwarven Forge builds? And how much does the magnet and the plug in unit weigh?

Well, in fact, as I don't plan to make more that one piece, I made the carpet and cloud with some polymer clay (Fimo) that strenghtened in the hoven. It is very often used by people (well, girls mainly... :P) for doing accessories for doll houses. For tutorials and videos, you'll find tons on the net for everything.

Of course !!! The goal is to play with it into a DF setup. I have still a few things to finish and I will show you that.
In fact it is more impressive in real than on pictures. I also will make a little movie soon.
For the weight, in fact, it is quite heavy. Even the magnet is quite huge.
