The Dragon's Gem 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Hi everyone,

Here's another DF modified piece I did a while ago (inspired by biowizard's treasure pile piece shown here).

I thought I'd make a similar one, but I wanted to have some of the gold pieces look like they're twinkling and also put in a large colour changing gem in the centre. Here are a few photos and a short video:

To be honest, the gold "glittering" didn't turn out as good as I was hoping, but hey, ya gotta try, right?

A couple more photos and a brief "how to" can be found on my blog at The Dungeon Workshop. Hope you enjoy!

This treasure pile is gorgeous!

What is it that you don't like about the appearance of your gold glitter?

p.s. I'm very glad we could influence/inspire one another...

You have earned a TRIPLE YOU ROCK THE FREE WORLD!!! I love the gold pile, the blinking etc. My only suggestion is to use a Black Dragon. :-)

I still do not fully understand what you don't like about your gold glitter but here's a thought... You could do a black paint wash over your treasure hoard. It could enhance the contrast between all the gold pieces! Finally, to all the people who would like to do their own treasure piles, I cannot recommend enough the use of round-shaped glitter. They are hard to find but there are some around!

Sorry biowizard, I have so many projects on the go, I forgot to get back to you on your question! Anyway, I guess I just imagined that the gold "glittering" effect would look better. Sort of like a slow twinkle, not just a blink on and off. But I guess it's alright. And I'm a novice painter so I probably won't risk painting it. I'd be sad if I ruined it now!

Shadox - Thanks for the triple and good to see you back! I agree that a black dragon would have been better, but the green one is all I had!
