So the first furniture I ever wanted for my Dwarven Forge dungeons was wizard furniture. Bookshelves, specifically, but also any old magic accessories would be great. Sadly, nobody seems to make the stuff. When I could find bookshelves at all, they were always run down and falling apart, nothing that could make the Great Library at Palanthas or any other grand setting. Where do the high powered mages from the lower depths keep their spellbooks, just in bags of holding? They keep their bookshelves in good order!

Then two things happened. First, I picked up some Grendel resin pieces for the sci-fi terrain, and I was REALLY happy with it. Black primer, and some silver drybrushing, and a little detail work, and it fit in PERFECTLY. It looked great.

Then, I saw Tom's pics of Grendel fantasy terrain. And I decided to take the plunge. I picked up some magic type stuff, and some bookshelves and cabinets. And I made the proper library/study rooms I wanted to make for like three or four years.

I won't say I did a perfect job painting -- I haven't been in the mood to paint for awhile now, so I just did a quick job, black primer then some drybrushing with a color I hoped would match DF pieces well enough and some detail work. I am happy with the matching up job, in some pics you have to look pretty carefully to see where the Grendel piece actually ends and the DF begins. The pieces themselves are exactly what I wanted, and in most cases they are just the right height, they fit perfectly. I see myself getting a LOT of Grendel to flesh out my DF stuff.

Here are some pics -- there are a LOT more, but here's a hint at least.

Where can I find this Grendel resin stuff online?

This looks exactly like what I am after. (I would of course purchase this stuff from DF if they ever decided to make a more advanced furniture set).

The place I use is www.discounthobby.com, though he runs out a lot. I'm still waiting on some tavern stuff to come in. There are probably other places, though. I hope someone will list some, so I have options when Johnny at Discount Hobby is out! I have to wait two months to make my tavern kitchen!

It's really great stuff -- there is less sci-fi stuff than fantasy, but both feature some really great pieces, and I am very happy with how well they work in DF settings.

Welcome in the Grendel's club L
DF without Grendel is not really DF
These two compagny are very complementary
You all should try it
And it's far easyer to paint than minis!!!

Yeah L got me trying the Grendal stuff. I love that the Pile or Gear is the same size as a Floor tile in DF. You can just put a folded piece of paper under it, and it comes up to the the level of th floor and you have an extra floor tile. (this is off course the Sci Fi line) but yeah i like the stuff so far. After i get the rest pf my minis i plan on taking some more pictures...

For extry fun, I noticed that the pile of cargo stuff also fits snugly into the opened panels on the large floor pieces from the alpha set. They match up perfectly, the little bit of floor under the tiles fits right up next to the DF floor so you have a perfect match.

I just ordered the sci fi bar from Discount hobby, so hopefully it's in stock. If so, once I get it painted, I'm doing a massive cantina scene with all the random aliens and droids I've pulled from RS and CS.

I Have Noticed with the Grendal Stuff that they have a lot of Pieces that have a "Floor" and or "Wall" element... Now Law, you have Done a Decent enough Job of trying to match up the Grendal to the DF, But with some of the Pieces (Like some of the Tavern Furniture), they are Set on Wood Plank instead of Stone... That could be Distracting... Any one have any Comments on this? I Sort of Wish that they would Produce the Furniture Elements by themselves... I Mean Even the Sci-Fi Sets could Support a Wooden Bookshelf here and there, But Not Wood Planks...

I HAVE FOUND GRENDEL SCENERY IN AUSTRALIA!!!!!!!

Ok, sorry, got a little carried away there. I managed to find a supplier of Grendel scenery not only in Australia, but also in my home state (about 5hrs drive away).

Music to my eyes was the fact that this stuff is surprisingly cheap!

I have already amassed a wishlist of 'DF dress-up' items that I want to get, and hopefully after Christmas, I will be doing just that. I just don't know what the wife will say when I tell her I want to spend another $500-$600 on 'dress-up' scenery for my DF stuff?!?!
