Getting maps ready for RPG session 9 Years, 7 Months ago
Well I have been busy of late (what with children finishing school, Christmas shopping, installing my pool, etc.) and have not had time to 'play' with my DF scenery.

**Yes I know, 2000 lashes for Darkfather for blasphemy**

Well I have finally gotten some time to get some maps ready for my RPG session tomorrow morning (about 9hrs away).

The adventure consists of my group of players having to foil <sp?> the plans of an out of control wizard who is currently besieging a small town. Long story short, they had already raided what was beleived to be his lair (my last lot of photos with the Otyughs), and have found information which will lead them to the town, where a full blown battle is happening. There they will kill lots (or be killed) and will find out that the psychotic wizard has a small tower some 2 weeks travel (pick a direction) from the town. The towns militia can finish off the raiding force if the PC's go to the tower and end the wizards attacks. This is what I am doing at the moment. I am designing the wizards tower (in reverse). Below are pics of the 'final battle area'.

No minis in the pics, but picture lots of acolytes, clerics, fallen paladin guards, etc in the area.

Any and all criticisms, help, ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Some pics so far of the Wizards Tower.

The Ground Level is very sparse (furniture-wise).

**I wish the rest of my DF order would arrive. I could've REALLY used the spiral stairs from WE2.**

DarkFather,

I Like it... I Have to Say that Since folks have been Posting all of the Great Examples of Multi-level rooms it has really Changed my opinions about their Tactful use...

The Hero Quest Furnishings always give me a Chuckle (I Love that Game, though I No longer have any of the Cards since my last Move...Sigh>...)... And I Know I Have Said it before, but Two Or Three of Each of the WK Dungeon Accessory Packs will give you all kinds of Great "Extra" Bits including some Kewl alternate Pillars, A Great Throne (Blows the Hero Quest Throne away), some Tables and Chairs, and Some Nifty Statues, Sacrificial Tables, Ponds and Traps... I Know I Keep Pushing this, but you Can Often Fins These for under $15 Bucks a set... (I've seen them for under $12)...

I Really like the Idea of the Raised walkway going across the Main Chamber... But... (Since you are a Great Terrain Builder, I add this bit), I think that the Walls of a Regular Corridor Piece are too Tall and too Angular compared to the Rest of the Features at that Level of the Dungeon... So Might I Suggest, a "Bridge" made up of Whatever, with maybe a little Crenalation for your Archers? Foam Core or What have you would Work Right?

I Love the Long-hall look of the Layout... It could be used for all sorts of things from your Tower Encounter, to a Feast-hall... (Sure Wish DF had those Large Curved Corner Pieces we keep talking about)...

You Use the Same Double Door Solution I have Used... I Have occasionaly Reversed one Door so that they Open in Opposite Directions Like in a Restaurant... But Ultimately I Will Usually Separate the Double Doors with a Small wall Section to Give the "Illusion" of a reason for having the doorframes for both Doors...

Let us Know how it "Plays"...

Heya MLV;

Any new purchases for me will have to wait until after Christmas now, unfortunately. The MK accesories do sound very interesting though. I will make sure to look into them.

Here are some more pics from the Wizards Tower Interior. This time Level 2.

Wow!

Just making the 3rd Level of the Wizards Tower gave me a headache. It will be interesting to see how the PC's handle it.

Well these are the last pics, I need sleep. It is 5:15am my time, and I DM at 10:00am....

Night All

DarkFather,

I Hear ya on After Christmas Money Stuff!!! Hey, I Really Dig your Use of Corridors in this Level, they lend a nice look to the overall design and Leave Potential "Space" for Secret Stairs, Gardobe Shoots, Elevators or Whatever... AND "Beware The Trapped Right Angle Corridor there"...<EFG>... Which Variant you using? I really Like the Bowl of Acid for Destroying Equipment... But there is Somthing Lovely Sinister about the Corridor Full of Spikes too!!! This is One of My Favorites of the Traps, perhaps not as Pretty as the Acid Pool, but Soo Functional and Evil... And Simple too!

DarkFather,

You Must have Posted 3rd Level as I was still Typing my Comments on Level 2... Three is Very Kewl too... I Love the Alchemists Bench from the HQ Stuff and it Looks Great in the Corner... So Where will the Portal be? And I Guess I Never Asked... Is this the Third Level Up or Down? Cause the First Level was the Largest I "Assumed" it was the Bottom Level but there are Steps Leading Up from Here... Is that where the Portal will be? and I Just reread your Comment about Wanting to use the Spiral Stairs from the WA Sets... And Let me tell you it is a GREAT piece for intermidiary Levels because it has Stairs Going in both Directions... Only Issue I have is an Anal One... I Wish that DF had made this piece as part of sectional Set up so that it Could be Used anywhere in the Dungeon, and so that it did not stand out so much from the Walls... But those are Trivial things compared to the Beauty and Utility of the Pieces...
