Now that the Christmas gaming drought is over... 2 Years, 11 Months ago
...it is time to resume with some epic and awesome setups on my gaming table!

I present Fort Rockwall. A ruined fort that has not seen use in nearly a century. The whole region surrounding the city has been blanketed in an unnatural winter, except for this fort. They are going to be in for a surprise when they enter the icy caverns beneath it and find the white dragon! (and hey, I have to use my shiny new Ice Caverns tomorrow night).

Here is a picture of the area outside the fort. I used some cardboard fences I had to double as a small field of crops (the bad guys gotta make food for themselves if everyone is starving due to winter!)

A neat view from my favorite Tuskerdoo tower ;)

A nice view from across the map and facing the main entrance to the ruined fort.

And lastly a few pics of the fort itself. I used my brand new ruins set I just got before Christmas. I was very excited to finally be able to use a large amount of DF pieces in one of my large builds. I used my freshly painted wood blocks to make the fort a multi-level affair as well. Should be for some good fun as they assault the orcs and ogres guarding the dragon's lair.

and lastly, a picture showing the stairs inside my Worldworks tower, should the party end up trying to ascend it.

Sweeeeet! I am still amazed how good the cardstock looks with the DF. How do the players like your setups?

The players absolutely love them...even if only 30% the actual setup sees use in combat, the atmosphere of seeing everything there really helps immerse everyone. Plus, I like using my imagination along with the displays to describe new cool and awesome ways the bad guys get eviscerated by the heroes in the combat, ala action movie style. (I had the berserk half-orc barbarian body slam a bad guy who had tortured him in the past through a wooden walkway and down into the city streets below, etc.)

I can't wait until the restock - I was very happy to be able to incorporation more DF into the build as my collection is growing...but I am now seeing how I could really make use of the advanced builder sets, etc. (not to mention a few more individual stairways).

Check back tomorrow night (or Monday) for the Ice Caverns as the display pictured above will get taken down mid gaming session to be replaced by the caverns and their White Dragon inhabitant...mwhahahahahaha (end Dr. Evil laugh now).

Fun setup. Nice use of different terrain types.

Here are the pics from the 2nd half of the session with the Ice Caverns. Used almost 2 full sets to construct the following.

Hi Eric,

It looked like a fun game! Could you tell us more as to where you got or how you made this nice reflective (I would guess wet-erase) white 1 inch grid platform underneath your ice cavern?

Thanks

I started with a piece of 3' x 5' plexiglass. I then got 1/16" artists tape. After marking out 1 inch increments, I taped the plexiglass (took about 90 minutes). Last step was to take some high brightness poster board to the back of the plexiglass.

The purpose for all of this is when we play Cyberpunk. I have a black light mounted above the gaming table. I have UV sensitive dice and markers. I printed my self made Cyberpunk book using the Savage Worlds rules on ultra bright paper, etc. So our Cyberpunk games are in the dark with a UV light for atmosphere.

My older camera doesn't capture things as bright as they really are (and blurs a bit in night mode), but here are a few examples...

Thank you very much for the rock and roll inspired rating. As long as we are doing musical references, I might have to have my next setup be World Painted Blood!!!
