ROTA ruin 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Here are some pics of a ROTA ruin that I put together today. It's very small, the whole setup is only about 18 inches in each direction. But I have been itching to put some DF up, it's been a long time since I've posted any pics here.

One of the pics shows some of the damage that my ROTA sets suffered in the move. The custom I made of the ROTA room/corridor piece that I painted white and blue has chunks missing from the side of the door. They were very thin, the borders of the little sliding mechanism for the removable wall. I have many of these little rooms, and probably 75% of them suffered some degree of damage. I customized three, they all took some hits. And I have one of the specially painted promo piece, and THAT took this kind of hit. Sigh.

Anyhoo, I like how this came out. ROTA remains one of my all-time favorite DF settings (though I love the caverns, and the river/lake sets, and MBS, and ... well, I probably shouldn't pretend I have a favorite)

Here are the rest (including the close-up of the smashed piece -- ah well, at least the stuff is SUPPOSED to look ruined, right?)

I had a hard time noticing the damage - even on the close up! Great set-up and pics, as always Law!!!

Same here, the damaged piece looks totally natural considering the set it us from.

And great little setup - a really unique display for such a small area.

Thanks for the kind words, guys! Yeah, like I said, the damage is harder to notice in a set that's DELIBERATELY "ruined." It's more the OCD collector instinct in me that registers "hrm, that shouldn't be there" and gets frustrated.

In any case, here are some pics of a very minor variation on this layout. One of my favorite aspects of DF is how easy it is to swap a few pieces out, turn some others around, and come up with a whole new map out of the same basic footprint.

Glad you like 'em!

Here are more variations on the same basic floorplan -- I wanted to build a really tall staircase. I succeeded. :P

Enjoy!

I love it! Great setup and cool photos. Especially the first one, great shot! And I really like the color theme of the skeletons! Great work! The setup is beautifully arranged, building it up to three levels = pure awesomeness! :)
