TOPIC: Roofing.

Roofing. 3 Years ago
Well its late but I was Excited. The other day my Local Game Store picked up some Terraclips 3D Cardstock terrain. They make three diffrent sets one being Buildings. So I was inspired and took a chance .. and it looks like it may have payed off. Now I imagine that I am not the only DF collector that Loves the idea of Roofing for my DF stuff. And most of us know that Yansolo make and sells some UNBELIVEABLE roof peices.. but like me we probably have all seen his roofing peices up on e-bay. But at 65 bucks pluss shipping for just one roof .. as amazing as they are .. I cant afford them.. So enter my crossed fingers as I picked up the Terraclips Building set. You can make whole rooms with this set but I was realy only intrested in the Roofs. The Peices are cardstock and Double sided for variation. You get 6 six inch long roof sections and Alot of 3 inch roof sections.. tons of gimbles as well .. you just clip them together if what ever way you want making them very modular. Here is what I tossed together in about 15 min or less in my excitement. NOW .. I have to get me some Midevil building sets ! ... starts counting pennies. Oh and an after thought.. If one wanted you would remove the clips and clue these making more apealing and less versital.. jsut a thought.. or maybe paperclips painted. but this is what they intend for you too use.. anyway here you go .. Opinions ? do they do DF justice or do they make DF look Getto ? I tossed a few random minis in to add to the sense of scale and what not..

Those look pretty good, definitely not in Yansolo's league but good enough for gaming. Getting rid of the clips would help a lot. The clips are the only thing that really detracts.
Another idea would be to use these as the base of your own custom roofs. They are already premeasured and fit nicely, so add a bit of balsa wood, a light coat of wall compound, and home made roof tiles from cardboard, and you could have something really cool! Heck, I may have to try that myself. It still won't be as good as Yansolo's but it could be fun to see how it turns out.
Nice find on these, BTW. I will check my FLGS to see if they stock this.

One of these techniques would really spruce these up.

Excellent value. Although maybe not as durable as some other materials, the versatility and size of what you can built is incredible. It is on my x-mas list and will also push me to getting the MBS.

Well I found something out as I started looking deeper into the box set.. it looks like With one box you can Get 6 6"roofs And about 12 3" roof peices half Taller then the rest for making wider rooms like the one in the picks above. And more then enough Trusses for any combination you can come up with.. Also .. Balconys and hand rails. I'll toss a quick shot of one I just slaped together. So not too bad for one box.
I noticed if your not paying attention its easy to get gaps like the one here.. but the over all look is still very good.

I had been useing D&D Tiles for Roofing so i wanted to compare.

And a far shot for overall immage. pardon the mess lol

Where are the street tiles from? I really like the overhanging balcony. That alone makes this a good buy IMO.
