Well my players got to play on/in Df scenery todaqy. It was a great hit with the players (as I knew it would be).

Here are a couple of shots of one of my designs in use during game play.

EDIT - Pics removd due to lack of space in the forums.

FarkFather,

Ok... Now these Are REALY Nice Looking Pics... I Especially Dig the Mine Entrance Props, and the "Down the Corridor" Views you have Provided are terrific... Good Job!

So was this the First time the Players had ever Seen ANY DF or Just the first time they had played with it in your Game?

Also are those Smaller "Giant Spiders" GW or are they the New Spiders from Aberations? (I Got a Bunch of Iron Cobras but only One Spider...<Sigh>...)...

They are not spiders, but something called a Mad Slasher, and yup they are in Abberations, although all of mine got used for Star Wars critters.

DarkFather,

Could you please post a shot of the mine entrance from a bit father out? I'd love to see what the rest of that piece looks like!

Thanks!

Wow!, thankyou MLV. I still wish I had a better camera, and better skill at taking photos, though.

This was the first time any of them had even seen Df scenery, let alone played on it. They were amazed at the quality of the stuff (as am I.. still). Not the first time they/we have used scenery though, I scratchbuild ALOT of scenery. (See my in production page on my website).

Also are those Smaller "Giant Spiders" GW or are they the New Spiders from Aberations? (I Got a Bunch of Iron Cobras but only One Spider...<Sigh>...)...

The smaller spiders are in fact Mad Slashers (from the D&D Miniatures Handbook), but they made great stand-ins for medium monstrous spiders.

No worries Dante. Here are a few photos of the mine itself and the entrance. (My son is going to be amazed that someone specifically asked to see this, as this is his own design/construction. Oh yeah is only 12yrs old, so please be nice ;) )

Please be nice?!? Dude--that is an awesome piece--especially from such a young modeller! You may tell your son that I'm very impressed.

I can't wait for my son to get old enough to start gaming. He's only 18 months now so I have quite awhile to wait but it'll be worth it!

Keep up the great work!

Tell your son I was impressed, too -- in some of the early close-up shots, I thought the railroad tracks were just store bought, outta-the-box model railroad tracks. The whole arrangement is really well-done, and mixing it with DF is a real fun idea.

(for that matter, I'd recommend either buying tracks or seeing if your son wants to build them, and put them in the DF passages -- a dwarven mine would be GREAT!)

Neat design, indeed!

If anyone wants to build a an actual working dwarven mine railroad you really should look for the Roco narrow gauge industrial equipment in the HOe scale. HO is of course 1:87 scale and the "e" means that you are using the rail spacing for N scale (9 mm) which turns out to something like 2.5 foot gauge, which is wider than the Maine narrow gauge roads but narrower than the Colorado railroads if we are still talking HO scale.

The industrial carts are perfect in size for hand-pushed mine carts, as the scale of the minis we use is more like 1:50, turning the 9 mm rail spacing into a gauge of 1.5 foot/45 cm, which is just about what most mine railroads used! :D

I'll take a couple of pictures for comparison when I get back home tonight, as I'm off for work in a few minutes.

Thanks guys. I have passed the accolades onto my son (maxminis screenname Clanguard), and he blushed. Ahh the innocense of youth.

Thanks also Willypold, for the heads up, I may check that out.

L - I thought of that also, once I have some more DF scenery (next week fingers crossed), I am going to give that a try. I will post pics if I can get my son to sit down with me and do it.
