Looks Like The Landspeeder is Pretty Darn Close Too! Does the Crawler "Open" up or anything?

D'oh! I should have mentioned:

The Landspeeder is from the Action Fleet line, and it's probably one of the best ships for use with the SW minis -- it's just about perfect! It also looks great with the Sandcrawler. (the "official" figs for the Landspeeder are about an inch high, the "official" figs for the crawler are the 3 3/4" figures, go figure)

The Sandcrawler has lots of "fun" features -- one side panel opens up, it has a ladder on the inside and the interior of the crawler is detailed with various levels and stairs between them. (not DF-level of detailing, mind you, but there's something to look at, at least)

The top of the cralwer also opens up in the front, so you can see the "cockpit" even though there's nothing really to see there.

Inside, there's a little secret panel in the floor big enough to hide a figure in (an R2 unit, or if you're using the minis, probably two figures)

There's also a "droid elevator" that you can lower -- put an R2 unit (or, again, with the minis you could put anyone on it) and then pull it up into the interior of the ship. It's manually operated, so it can't break, but it's a little clumsy. Still, it's cute.

It's a neat little toy, actually, even though the treads don't move and there aren't even wheels under them. Still, it's cool -- and who'd have thunk we'd get a Sandcrawler?

So I Guess the Point about Hangers was Based on the Short Walls of DF?

The Action Fleet Stuff Looks Kinda' Interesting, is it still Available? Seems Like Some of this Stuff is 4-6 years Old? (From Online Info)...

The hangar thing is just, yeah, the walls are short, but also, the space involved is so HUGE, you'd need 10 starter sets and 10 alpha expansion sets just to have a single ship! The stuff is so vast, it's insane.

As for Action Fleet -- yeah, it's been OOP since Hasbro bought Galoob. They were fantastic toys, though -- lots of fun moving parts, in relative scale, lots of little figures to go in cockpits. Plus they look good, I think (as the pics show)

You can usually find them on ebay for cheap, the line never had near the popularity of the regular Hasbro/Kenner line. That's why when Hasbro bought Galoob, they cancelled the line. It just didn't do well enough to justify its continued existence for them. I didn't mind too much -- by that point we'd gotten just about every ship. ;)

For use with the minis and DF stuff, I'd recommend the Action Fleet landspeeder, snowspeeder, A-Wing, X-Wing, the various TIE ships (fighter, interceptor, Vader's, and bomber) and Slave 1. The Y-Wing is okay, too. The AT-AT, the B-wing, the Imperial Shuttle, the Falcon are all very out of scale for the minis.

Where can you get that crawler online? Not to take away from DF, maybe you should PM me. That thing is cool for the minis game.

Law,

I am Very Curious about the "New" Environment DF has Hinted At and How it might be Used with Existing Miniatures and Vehicles as well... And Of Course I Suppose there is always the "Possibility" that with the apparent Success of the WotC SW line, that Someone will produce some Vehicles that are to Scale... (Again I am Surprised WotC is not all over it... Maybe They will do an Equivolent SW set to the G.O.L. from the D&D Stuff)...'

I doubt DF can get permission to do anything official for SW, but I'd love it if they could -- vehicles would be out, I'm sure, but maybe some kinda scenery license could be obtained. Still, Lucasfilm is famous for charging a TON for licenses, so probably not...

As for the Sandcrawler, I do all my online shopping at www.bigbadtoystore.com, when it doesn't involve minis gaming that is. They may be out of stock for now, but they'll probably get more in. It's not cheap, though!

I Have Been "Crawling" as I Have had Time, there are a lot of Hits when you Google or Yahoo "Star Wars Action Fleet", "Star Wars Action Fleet Vehicles" Etc... But a lot of it is "Out of Stock" pretty Much Everywhere I Have Looked...

Was Not Suggesting DF do Vehicles... Was Hoping that DF was Going to Do some "Modern" or "Post Modern" Scenary... It's WotC I want to see do Star Wars Vehicles Since they Have the Licenceing thing already on some Level... Also then they could Control Scale Nicely... Of Course the Jabba is a Good Indicater that Scale is subjective...<Chuckle>... Also Want WotC to do Some Star Trek and Cyber-punk/ Shadow run Miniatures in the Same Scale Range... All of Which could Be Used with Existing DF Stuff...

Anyone who really cares could probably stop by a local comic or gaming store that gets Previews -- this was a Diamond/Previews exclusive item, so if the distributor isn't OOS, they should be able to order one for you.

And I think DF modern scenery would be hypercool -- I'm picturing a sleek high-tech office complex run by an eeevil company.

Still, with the sci-fi stuff so new, I can mainly think of things I want for that more than I can anything else. I really want to see what they come up with! For now, I can use my sci-fi stuff for a modern setting, provided it's a specific enough location. It's a good backdrop for comic book battles, at least -- Dr. Doom's HQ or the Batcave. That's all I need!

You Know that Sleek Office Complex... Could Nicely Double for the More Slick Star Wars Stuff too (Death Star was Pretty "Japanese Mega-corp" in design if you ask me)... But Yes I Would Love to See that... Also Some Unique Pieces Like an Elevator, (Which Again Could be Used with any other Set really... If Mixing Genre' is your Thing, or you are Playing the "Bill and Ted" Role-playing Game)... And Of Course Pieces to build a Modern Wash Room would be Awesome, Not to Mention Industrial Kitchen Set ups, Steam Rooms/ Generator Rooms, etc...
