Dwarven Mine, take 2 3 Years, 10 Months ago
OK, this one, I admit, I really like. I bought some N-scale model railroad track and it just looks PERFECT. I also used some bitz I had lying around from old GW sets to make wooden bracings, ladders, and so forth. There are even some DF benches used to block off an unsafe area of the mine.

What annoys me is that I somehow lost the mining pony that came with the GW dwarf miners. It was one of the highlights of the set for me, a mining cart and pony that was the perfect accessory for this kind of thing. AH well. The tracks really make it work, anyway.

And, of course, I had to throw in at least one shot indicating that, yes, the dwarves did delve too greedily and too deep....

I'll try to post better pics in the morning, but for now -- enjoy!

A few more shots... I moved some things around as I took these, just as I realized what could be done.

I placed the ramp from the DF Traps set as a wooden access ramp, it works really well. Perfect height for transition between levels, and the wood construction works for a mine.

I also used the DF benches to make some shelves, they could also probably make a kind of rudimentary scaffolding.

Finally, of course, I revealed the owner of the mine.... mwah-ha-ha-ha.

I added some tracks in various layers, to suggest a much more complex, deep mine. The criss-crossing tracks at various heights is really effective, I think.

Very nice, L!
It reminds me of one of the Indiana Jones movies during which they race along in the rail cart and are being followed by the evil temple guys...

...except there were no dwarves. A pity!

Keep it coming!

N-scale is smaller than HO -- it's actually really tiny, like 1:177 or something like that, as opposed to HO which is closer to 1:24 or thereabouts. HO is far closer to gaming scale -- I believe I've heard that S is the best scale for gaming purposes.

But that would be if you wanted actual train stuff -- for mining tracks, which would be smaller (especially DWARF mining tracks), I think this is just about perfect.

Thanks L. Inspired by your railroad track I went to my local hobby store and bought some track too, but I got HO scale. I did some quick math and it seemed to the right scale for 1" squares, but your N-scale looks great! I have to put my HO scale track on my DF pieces to see if it looks good.

I searched the web for mining cars/carts and found these, some good some meh. I was hoping to find one that would ride on HO track.

I almost bought one of those top ones on ebay but was concerned how it would look with df and minis. If you get one will you post pics to show how it looks?
I also thought about getting one of these:

Shad, I added that pic and link to my post, so I can reference it later. I'll let you know if I buy any of them. I'm unsure at this time.
