One thing I've wanted to do since I first got the chasm set was to have a large bridge going over water. Since I'm a bit of a purist, I didn't want to rest rocks directly on water -- the bridge supports had to go on land. (since the water pieces are designed in such a way that you can see beneath the surface of the water, the illusion would be broken if it is clear that the bridge support is only resting on the surface)

So I created a setup, which I modified as I went, to explore this. I really like having caverns with such depth to them!

Enjoy!

Woah that's beautiful man. Another awesome setup in your line. No need to say that I love those tentacles too... (sigh).

Indeed - makes me want to break out the cavern sets (which have always been my favorite) right now!

How stable is it L? Can you game with it like that - move pieces & bump the table and not have it come crashing down?

Bumping into the table isn't a problem -- knocking over walls inadvertently while reaching for something can be.

The free-standing walls are designed with a little stability, they have "feet", i.e. extended portions on the bottom to give them a little anchor.

Super great design and layout!!!

Questions:
A) How many of each of the Cavern sets do you have?
B) How often did you use upside pieces?

I'm having trouble building layouts like this and yours looks exactly like what I want to do. :)

Thanks!

I am not sure how many sets I used, to be honest. I'm pretty sure this was put together with one basic cavern set and a few individual floor pieces, but I do have two cavern sets (one bow-tie, one without) so I may have used a few of the bowtie pieces to support higher levels.

The water elements are from 1 river and 1 lake set, and I may have used something from the water expansion set, but I don't think I did.

And I believe two chasm sets are in place.

I didn't use any upside-down pieces for support, just used a lot of free-standing walls and columns. I have noticed that some of the "stair"-type columns from the chasm set are really, really useful for supporting higher levels.

Hope that helps...
