Thank you once more for your laud.
These pictures show a small part of my Dwarven Forge accessories only. I am probably going to upload further pictures some day because your positive feedback motivated me and encouraged my ambition. :-)

Thomarillion uses a plaster-type resin, doesn't it? I'm under the impression that material is prone to chipping and breaking. What condition did the library pieces arrive in?

I love the look of the Thomarillion line, but I am leery of the plaster-type resin. Does painting reduce the susceptibility to chipping?

They do chip fairly easily. The only ones I have had chip was because I dropped them on my hardwood floor after shipping. I haven't had one chip since I painted mine, but I haven't dropped them either. They were packaged very well when I got them.

I have had several talks with the guys from Thomarillion on the game fair in Essen every of the last couple of years. I also own a lot of those Thomarillion plaster-like shelves. They have a large variety of book shelves, wardrobes, a smithy, even some steam punk and sci-fi stuff. I had never once chipping off anything of those things though I have to admit that I didn't let them fall to he floor....yet.
Did you know that they also produce a large line of metal things, mostly decoration stuff like scrolls, books, candle holders and even some tables and chairs. I even bought some of those obviously coveted mushrooms in metal, too.
Be sure to have a look at their site.

Cheers

Yes, more pictures plz!!! :-)

Yes, if you drop it chipping is very, very likely to happen, so being careful is a necessity. But this stuff is pretty awesome, so it's definitely worth having. To my experience the guys behind Thomarillion hand-pack every order very carefully.

Yes, they really try to package their stuff well.
I therefore think you can give it a try.
Harneloot, did your stuff arrive undamaged?

I love Thomarillion because their stuff is really nice and it fits perfectly to DF. Here two further snap shots from my collection...

Well, you've made me cave and place an order!

Some of their stuff is similar to what DF offers (like beds and fireplaces) or what I already have from Grendel or Fenryll.

But some -- especially the library elements -- are totally unique. The "Bookshelves I" item is the only time I've ever seen shelves like that. It seems so obvious, really, but nobody makes them! Shelves always seem to have skulls on them, or be ruined or falling apart in some way -- when what I really want are basic, clean, new shelves, stocked full of books, to line up and make a library.

Perfect!

And things like the piano and organ are great, too -- I grabbed a bunch of stuff, including some wardrobe/dresser elements. I have NO time to paint these days, but this looks pretty straightforward to do. I'll MAKE time!

I'm really looking forward to it. I still want DF to make things like this, but for now the Thomarillion stuff will be a great addition to my collection!

L,
don't be afraid of painting these nice Thomarillion things. I have been doing exactly that recently and found out that with Devlan Mud Wash from Games Workshop right on top of the wood parts twice works really fine. I didn't even undercoat them. Sure, the result won't be as fantastic as the one from Crazy Herald but you can go from there.
This way I recently painted a lot of about 8-10 book cases and some wardrobes together with my wife in really a short time.

Be sure to try it out.

this library inspired me several months ago to write a campaign centered on Lich knowledge and a labyrinth library where all secrets of my campaign are held. Really no way for the PCs to find all of the clues but it will be fun.

Thanks for posting this incredible set up.
