Knight73 the screaming face was a custom Kratzs job I did. it used to be a halloween shotglass. Now it is my KRAZED CLOAKER. The archway is two ebobs attached to a custom piece I made from an old medallion.

I have the blessing of designing my first and hopefully last gaming room. What are your idea's if you were going to build this room into a gaming room? The room is 15' X 16'. The closets are 2 'X 6'. The room will be "gutted" soon. You don't want to know what it cost me to bride my oldest daughter, who just got her learners permit, to vacate her beloved room and move into a much smaller room with one closet!

The first pic is from standing in the doorway. Second pic standing in the room looking back at the entryway. Last pic is standing in the room and looking at the second 2' X 6' closet. The room is 8' high.

I'm thinking of putting together a medieval theme to the room? I've been looking at faux foam boards of stone or faux wood planks for the walls. This seems less expensive than the real thing. I've also located refinished used wood flooring from an 85 year old barn to give the floor the feel of a tavern floor. I'm thinking about something like a tavern feel to the room? The problem I'm running into is what to do with the ceiling? Also, I want to hide both closet doors. The problem is bringing together whatever I put on the walls that will match with the ceiling and floor? Also another big problem is finding period furniture? Where in the world is medieval type furniture?

I'm thinking of using the closets to store all my DF stuff, minis, and more. I also figured the closet would be a good place for a mini fridge and microwave. Another issue is the door to the room is a sliding pocket door. So, do I have someone paint to match the rooms theme or try to replace it (that would be costly)?

ALL idea's are welcome no matter how crazy or trivial you think they may be!

Thank you all in advance! I would enjoy making this gaming room into a room that would really enhance the gaming experience.

Monkplayer, perhaps this will give you some ideas. I know that it is what inspired me to make my game room!

Arcarius,
WOW! Did I say WOOOWWWW? The game room on Acaeum is great! There are several elements I asked the owner about. The one difference with my room is I hope I don't have any modern century item's showing (like board games or minis out in the main area). I'm hoping I have the fundage ($) to make everything in the room look authentic and have enough room in the two closets to store everything that looks modern (minis, DF, Games)!

Here we go...

One wall with bookshelves for my collection of books and boardgames - the usual fare.

Closet is filled with minis. Mostly the D&D plastic minis, but a smattering of painted pewter as well. Accompanying them are pdf cardstock buildings I assembled. The blank space at the bottom will soon see a mini-fridge ;) I have hooks on the top of the closet to display various maps I have gotten laminated as well.

Collection of art on the walls, again, usual fare. Though, living 30 minutes from Palladium books, I see alot of Kevin and crew, therefore I have a wall of Palladium oriented art ;)

Nothing special about the table for the time being. I hope to correct that sometime in 2012.

I have a rolling storage unit for my budding dwarven forge collection as well. It will be growing once the Cavern sets comes back in stock ;)

Eric,

Great gaming space. Tons of space for RPGs or whatever. It appears you have amassed a large collection of goodies. In PIC #1 you have one of those small drawer chests (top shelf in middle), what do you store in there, dice? tokens? players aids?. Whats so classic is the purple crown royal bag . (If thats what it is) An old school gamer must.

GAME ON

Glad you enjoyed the pics

The small drawer chests is from a hardware store - it is meant for storing nuts and bolts but I store: a smattering of Star Wars WTOC minis, assembled Disposable Heroes from different genre's (Western/Deadlands and Cyberpunk, etc.), Savage Worlds shaken and wound markers, and my specialty dice (dice with UV sensitive crayons filling in the numbers because we play Cyberpunk with a blacklight that hangs on the ceiling and all UV sensitive materials - I copied the idea from Wisdom who you may have heard of).

Yep - Crown Royal bag. Back when I was waiting for school to start I worked at a party store so I have 5 or 6 spares - enough to last a lifetime.

Eric,

Great room! Very neatly organized too. I love the laminated Greyhawk map. I should buy a spare and copy that idea!
