Since it's come up recently, I thought I'd post some pics of pieces I made out of Hirst Arts molds to add to my DF display.

There were a few obstacles that I noticed quickly:

1. Matching the paint job is TOUGH. It doesn't have to be perfect, but you don't want things to stand out too much. Some elements can, but when you want something seamlessly blending into a room, the color has to match very well.

2. HA blocks are slightly larger than MM pieces. Most design elements in the molds are pretty large, so fitting them into MM-size walls is not really possible. If I had the fieldstone molds, I could make walls that gradually grow to accomodate HA elements, but without that, I just had to accept the leap in height.

3. The floors in HA are actually probably better to use upside-down, the texture on them doesn't match the MM floors all that well.

In any case, it was fun to have things like a blood pit and archways and things. (the blood, btw, was made from Envirotex Pour on Finish, mixed with red paint)

These pics are kinda all over the place. I believe I posted them to the now sadly-defunct MM yahoo group, and I also posted them at Voidgamers for the HA crowd. So they might look familiar to terrain fans.

The 'fresco' REALLY looks great, though! Was that hand-painted?
If yes, I hate you and I'm jealous. :P
