Got my first sets, threw together a basic dungeon to try out a dungeon layout for an upcoming game, put in some minis (my group keeps their nice painted minis with them, so all I have is plastic ones for the party.. but ANYWAY..

If you click on the link, you'll go to a larger version so you can see the DF stuff better :)

Unpacking (very exciting)

The Homes of the Rose adventuring company advances down dry dusty stairs deeper into the dungeon.... Dejan Kalle, the groups Witchalock leads the group, with his dwarf Paladin friend Jennit Gearspinner by his side. Behind him follows the groups ranger, Nicodemus Ignác and their wizard, Joakim Bryon. Together they have been exploring the Ghoularrow dungeon for many days, and this was the deepest they had delved yet in search of the bones of Eberardo Shahriyar, who is said to have been entombed here with his magic sword, the Zoselassa (all these names are important, there will be a quiz later). The Zoselassa is said to have been able to restore peace to the now war ravaged countryside (and presumably, get an adventurer some money and wenches).

They take their first steps on this new level. Their footfalls echo and distort off the dungeon walls. Dejan leads the party straight- his preferred direction since he wears a helmet that makes turning his head hard. They round the first corner (against Dejan's better instincts, who insisted that there must be a secret door that allows them to continue straight ahead) and...

Oh no! a fearsome BONE MONSTER OF KHORAS! The fight does not last long, possibly due to a sucky camera angle.

They move on, and suddenly find themselves standing before a curious door... which dry shuffling can be heard through.

Witchalocks like doors less than they like enemies who can still breathe- which is to say not at all. Dejan Kell looks at the door with harsh judgment in his eye, and it falls through on it's hinges- revealing skeletons! Oh noz. He and Jennit waste no time jumping through the doorframe and ontop of the door, getting the job done.

Careful readers will note that Witchalocks might like undead more than they like doors- in any event Dejan and Jennit proceed to hack the skeletons into tinier bits, then enjoy some of the mead barrels they find in the corner.

Many hours, and a not insignificant number of zombies, ghouls and dead rats later, the party finds themselves around the corner from what they believe to be their ultimate goal... But they know the danger that lurks. They cast a revealwhatsahead ritual and plan out their moves..

And away they go! Dejan hacks away at an angry ghoul in his face. Nicodemus and Joakim continue to give gentle encouragement through the fight, and just when it seems that all hope is lost, Jennit Gearspinner is suddenly infused with the power of his God to win the day. Yay.

Yeah - really great close-ups and excellent lighting on the pics. Very nice.

Like the story as well - always nice to get frame by frame explanation of the action!

Don't you just love the smell of the DF resiny-goodness as you crack open the boxes ?!!!

Great photos and story. Thanks for sharing !!!

BTW, I like your stepped feature in the corner of that room. Consider that idea stolen ;)

Thanks for the compliments guys :) I love how great DF looks in up close macro photography- the camera catches great little details that are near imperceptible to just the naked eye!

I tried my best for a story :)

I didn't realize the stepped feature in the room would be new.. this dungeon didn't have many big rooms, so I had a ton o extra 2x2 floor pieces, and I really wanted to add some height to the map so...

I love multi level maps :) this one isn't really playable.. but... :)

Yeah, nice stacking!

I especially like the hobgoblin war caster on the top level behind the stack of sacks raining down bolts of death onto poor Tordek!
