Rodenbach,

What a glorious setup, and quite imaginative. I have never seen about 40% of your accessories, Wow! All very imaginative and well painted, it really is an "alive" place...needing some beasties and denizens....Thanks for sharing:)

PS
No DF Tavern Set?

Thank you very much, and yes, I have a DF Tavern set, I will use it next time ...with the rest of my accessories :)

For the painting, I just try to use 'flashy' colors to make a contrast with the walls.

Yes,

1. For the picture frames, I bought them on EBay, Here and I put pictures from Les Edwards on it.
2. Those 2 objects come from Grendel : the snake double door comes from the Temple of Set and the mirrors comes from the Magician Study and from the Magician Accessories
3. The organ is from Fenryll
4. The heads were bought on the Ebay shop of Mega Minis :
5. The bookcases with only books are from Thomarillion : Bookshelves

I hope that those links will help :) If you need other links, just ask, I'll make my best !!

WOW - the Thormallion stuff is excellent!

Does anyone know if its plaster or resin? The web-site says its: "high-quality ceramic casting slip" but I'm not sure what this is.....

Casting Slip is a water and clay mix. Depending on the type of clay, you can get something fragile and detailed like porcelain to something much, much stronger like stone ware.

So, while not plaster, per se, Thomarillion's items certainly aren't resin. They may be pretty durable, however, because they are smaller pieces. I haven't ordered anything from them yet because I didn't have any recommendations on the quality and durability.

So, Rodenbach, how do you like the Thomarillion items? Are they fairly durable and well-detailed? Do they have a lot of air bubbles in their castings ?

Thanks

I just got an order from Thomarillion today. While I can say the castings are great with no airbubbles and only a few mold lines, I am concerned about their durability. The mold line more crumbled than shaved off which alarmed me. Rodenbach I'd like your impressions on how well they hold up to use and if you take more care storing them than your resin pieces.

They are made of this stuff:

Regarding the Thomarillion items, I have ordered some of their pieces and the ones I have are like dental plaster. I primed and painted them and didn't have any problems. But they are not as sturdy as resin by any means. I don't transport these pieces with the confidence I do with DF items, and would use extra care.

About the Cat/displacer beast. What castle would be complete without a black cat, I have 2 of the lucky devils myself...

Great setup - really well done all around.

I have lots of grendel (many of the same ones you have) and I've always liked them. In fact I have a great deal of the pieces you have (Grendel and otherise) - but certainly not all of them - and not all painted either. Its quite a lot of work you have put in there - enjoy your gaming!

For the Thomarillion accessories, as Djtherapy and Deeman said, it's made in a kind of hard plaster and it is a bit fragile. So you have to be extra carefull with those pieces but it is easy to paint, that is not the case of all resin cast accessories. For those who knows Ziterdes (which is a partner of Thomarillion), it is made in the same kind of plaster.
