A few more Spartans, and a change of pace -- mummies! Including the secret liche lorde of the Realm, Ahk Ahnt Waytfuhr Row-ta. (there's a hidden message in that name, btw)

Stefan, for something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, try THIS;

A group of Trek fans who call themselves 'The Temple of Trek' because they poke fun at TV evangelists, is led by a guy whose fannish name is Dr. Trekwell (as in Jerry Falwell). They go to a convention and somehow fall through a portal and wind up in an ancient ruined temple, where all KINDS of fun and magical things happen to them! (lucky for them, their Choir Director and Tech Crew Chief is a D&D GM and his wife is an experienced gamer - level 12 wizard). Also, Dr. Trekwell actually went through Army ROTC, and the TCC is an ex-cop and Vietnam Vet.

Is this starting to sound familiar? I thought it might be. Anyway, it gives ME a chance to run around in the RotA, as well as running a game through it with my friends STUCK in there for a while. And with the DoE special room, I can REALLY give at least ONE room that 'spacial' feeling!
Too bad I never got my StarGate model from whoever that was that was making portals...

A few more shots -- some bright shields on Spartan soldiers, and a GW mummy. Oh, and a flame efreet. I experimented with the last one, rather than painting him some kind of flesh tone I went for a kind of Balrogesque "shadow and flame" technique. Mixed results as far as technique is concerned, but overall I'm happy with it, I think it's effective and unique.

A slight improvement to the GW mummy -- took out the red, which made his carapice look a bit too candy-like. And just did some subtle improvements. With these pictures, I can see some slop and overspill on some paint I need to fix, too. But I'm overall very happy with him. This was my second attempt at this sculpt -- I got him when he was new, about four years ago or so, and tossed him because my paint job on him made him look SO BORING. But I really like him now. Maybe ROTA just has me more in the mood. I think the new GW skeletons, if you use the right combo of elements from the sprue, can look right at home with Egyptian stuff. I like them as his elite guard....
