Here's a double door i realised on an original idea of "LECARTOMANCIEN"
I bought original doors from grendel and adapted to dwarven tiles.
I also added flickering light inside torches with printed circuit and battery hidden under the dug tile.
I needed a door like that!

Brilliant!

Any tips/tutorial on the conversion? Did the Grendel Door come as one piece as below?

If so what did you use to cut out the door?

Very nice. I plan to convert a trap piece to an entrance and you give me inspiration.

That is a cool conversion Yansolo. The lighted torches are a nice touch. Thanks for posting the pictures

That's really great!

My question to everyone is: would you guys prefer a door that is the same height as the walls (2") or would you prefer a really big double door like the one yansolo has shown?

I'd be interested in both to be honest! The 'extra height' doors make a great focal point in themselves for using as feature rooms. I don't think there is that much of an issue over them being above wall height (and we've already got precedent with the swinging log trap) unless you were stacking rooms directly on top of each other - which I personally rarely do.

I'd love to see a Doors Set with a range of different types: arcane entrances, cell doors, a trap doorfloor piece, battered down doors (see yansolo again) ... some more secret doors.

YanSolo

Absolutely great - as always.

On a different note - I just got accepted today as a speaker to a conference: SBS 2009 Annual Conference, Bioassay & Technology Innovation: 15 Years of Shaping Drug Discovery, April 26-30, 2009, Lille Grand Palais, Lille.

So please mark your diary - there should be a possibility to meet up with you. I look forward to see some of your innovations in real.

To contact me - jens loesel freeserve co uk - just add an add sign after the jens and dots inbetween the rest. We can discuss more details off-line. Still a while to go ...

Hi Everybody!,
I'd be honored to meet you, Thod! Please save a rug or two for me, i'll give you a piece or two, and we'll drink a good cold beer!

Lecartomancien made a tutorial to adapt the door, but only with closed doors, i myself didn't...

Thanks for the compliments!
Stefan, i also thought about that height story:i myself hide everything and discover parts by parts for my player, in order to their advance in the dungeon.

I did the chimney in that mind being(photos below), but i don't think it's judicious with a big door, that you can't cut!!
The problem is interessant and i think we all thought about it at a time of our DF experience....i don't have myself, because i simply remove the door from the playing place and replace it when i discover an area...that's the best i found!

Big doors. Big! Big, I tell you!

The thing is, the small doors are good if you're stacking pieces, but stacking pieces isn't all that practical for game play (especially when you consider that a lot of minis go over the 1.5" height of the walls anyway). If you're going to have multiple levels, they're usually going to be on separate parts of the table anyway. So, why not more accessories that give the suggestion of height? (Like those awesome tall stalagmites for the cavern sets).

More than height, though, I think we need a LOT of different kinds of doors. Little things like that really bring a dungeon to life. Steel doors. Broken doors. Curtains. Sliding panels. Double Doors. Circular portals. I want 'em all!

(I don't mean to sound pushy; I'm just excited about the possibility of getting more doors.)
