This setup started as the location for a Traveller RPG adventure. Kind of a science station on top of an oil platorm. Seemed ashame to tear it down after the guys were over so I'm setting up for a Star Wars adventure for my kids and their friends. I've simplifed the Star Wars miniatures rules for the kids so there aren't as many points to keep track of. This was my first us of the new DF Gamma sets. They rock!

My sets: 20x Sci-fi starters, 7x Alpha's, 3x Gamma's, 4x Beta's, 6x Passage; 3x ROTA, 3x ROTA II; and more Dungeon and Caverns sets than I feel like counting (or want my wife counting).

Gamma Rocks, i so hope it sold well enough so that Delta (or what ever is next in the Greek Alphabet) gets made becuase while Gamma has some really cool accessories, there are about 4 or 5 more i know i still want.

Nice set up, love the big arching/curve of the structure.

what is/who makes the "truck"?.. (looks like card stock?) on the far right in the last pic? I have been looking for a Juggernaut, and while it's not that close, it looks easy, and maybe scaleable.

I do hope they come out with another Sci-fi set!! I'd love to see what other tricks they have up their sleeves.

Good catch on the truck. It was actually printed on photo paper which was then given a light spray of a photo safe matte finish. The truck was a free PDF download that I found a couple years back while digging on the net for Traveller RPG stuff. I don't seem to have the link or the file, but if I can dig them up I'll post them.

Thanks for the complements on the layout. Can't claim much credit for the design. The layout was something our Game Master drempt up at work one afternoon and then dumped to Powerpoint and e-mailed it to me. See attached pic. I was fortunate to have just enough sets to build it out. It was 12x Starter, 4x Alpha, 4x Beta, and 2x Gamma.

Awesome set-up! It's very satisfying to see the new pieces and how they are being used in the set-ups...

Unfortunately, Gamma sales have slowed down to a trickle.... but perhaps we will sell a bunch during the Christmas season....and perhaps, just maybe, a few people might want to buy an extra set for collectors purposes?
One day, i think we might be able to do another, but probably not as soon as I had hoped...we really do need to sell out of these first for it to be viable. meanwhile, ideas are welcomed very much!

It took some searching but I found an old link to the paper truck. Try www.megaminis.com/TRAV.htm Not sure how much longer the link will be around, the main Mega Minis site dumps you onto their Ebay store now.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the comments Stefan. I've enjoyed the dungeon sets for quite a while but only started collecting and regularly using the sci-fi within the last two years. They get more use now than the other sets. I hope you do sell out of the Gamma sets over Xmas!! (I tried to do my part by buying three sets during the pre-order. ) I'd love to see some more sci-fi pieces come out next year. Everytime I read through the wish lists people have posted on the forums, I start to drool! Ah to have some blast doors, hatches, engineering, and landing bay accessories!!!

Now I just need to finish up the game I've started with the kids so I can tear this setup down and come up with something cool for the contest. I'd forgotten about. Thanks for the motivation Ghenghis!

Ah yeah i remember some of the free pdfs MegaMinis used to have, don't ever remember seeing that traveler one. I think i grabbed the truck and or fire engine/ambulance once or something along those lines....

Man Sci-Fi just gets so short chnaged some times (i know why becuase of all the different "looks" for the various universes) but it doesn't make me any happier knowing why it gets short changed, it still does...

I'd have loved to have some Official DF accesories like "space barrels, crates, foot lockers" for the upcomming contest.. but Gamma will go a very nice way. All of the Tony Stuff will be "illegal" so the set ups are going to be a little less developed.... And there are no minis... Man i don't want to use skeletons... :)
