It's not DF, but here are some pictures of a castle I made for use with Sabertooth's LOTR TMG game. The scale is 40mm hexes, so not DF compatible, and the look is more "plastic toy" than the realistic DF look, but it's fun.

I posted the pictures because Myrthe mentioned LOTR TMG in Thod's post in the cool pictures section. It's my favorite skirmish game and it's sad the game (and now Sabertooth) is defunct, so I thought I'd share some pictures. There's no DF involved unfortunately, so if the mods want to remove the post I don't mind!

I've seen some jaw-droppingly incredible set ups using Heroscape that put my castle to shame, but here are my pictures:

Thanks for posting those! No, they really aren't anything like DF, but that stuff is pretty great in its own right. I was briefly into Heroscape stuff but had to unload a lot of it simply because I didn't have room for EVERYTHING and I had to make choices. The ice stuff they did is REALLY great (I kept some of it) and I thought hte lava stuff was pretty neat too. (I had that for SW games, for Mustafar, but I had to get rid of it)

Still, that looks like a ton of fun. I really love the pics themselves, too -- very cinematic! Great setup...

WOW !!! Fantastic !!!
Makes me want to dig out my LOTR minis and start a game RIGHT NOW !!!!

Thanks for sharing, Purplesaber !!! Where are you and what time should I be there to play ?!!! :D

I never got the HS Castle Set but your pics are making me rethink that self-restraint !!

I miss the old "buy-one-get-one" sale that Toys R Us used to have on games twice a year. That's how I got my load of HS tiles (made even cheaper by selling the minis and misc stuff on Ebay).

Hi Myrthe,

Thanks for the kind words about my castle!

If you still like the LOTR TMG game, there is a small group of us who still keep the game going by playing online via Vassal (that's a free program that allows you to play boardgames online or by email). The LOTR TMG module is terrific and is just like playing a live game with the figures and sliders and dice and all. There's actually going to be a worldwide tourney later this month. There's also another forum (mostly the same folks) dedicated to gradually adding new (custom) figures and generally keeping the game alive. Let me know or PM me if you'd like links to either forum! It's a fun game and it's too bad it didn't have a longer run.

Hi Myrthe,

I sent you an email with links to the two TMG forums. Thanks for your interest!
