These are photos of my gaming group's first use of all my DF Sci-fi pieces. This was also my first amateur attempt at photographing it all. Still need to work on my lighting and camera technique.

The game was a continuation of our Traveller campaign. For those not familiar with Traveller, it is essentially a sci-fi based D&D. Some might say that's a crude analogy but it's a similar concept. Our GM claims Traveller is more cerebral whereas D&D is more hack and slash. Unfortunately, our group tends to shoot first and ask questions later. We've been playing for a number of years, and have always used miniatures for fighting out the battles. The DF pieces add a fun new dimension. In the past we've only used a few of the starter sets for some of our games. Everyone was excited to see it all out on the table. These photos are from after the game finished and I restaged several parts. I adlibbed the ending. In our game the base was pretty much destroyed.

My sets: 20x Sci-fi starters, 7x Alpha's, 3x Gamma's, 4x Beta's, 6x Passage; 3x ROTA, 3x ROTA II; and more Dungeon and Caverns sets than I feel like counting (or want my wife counting).

Nice work. I like the design of the layout a lot--in particular the "ten forward" style area and the brig.

Thanks!! Yes, the non-DF pieces are two spaceships. One's a shuttle and the other a larger transport. Both are based on some very old Traveller spaceship blueprints. They are made from a mix of foam core, balsa, and light ply. Had a hoot building them.

Awesome space station. You did a great job with the scratch built pieces. When I first saw them I was wondering what manufacturer had made them. I don't (and can't afford) to collect Sci-Fi - but I still apreciate it and really liked the setup.

Thanks Stefan! I can't wait for the new stuff! It really will give our creations that missing finishing touch. Now I just need to come up with a good scenario that I can combine all the sci-fi and dungeon stuff I've been collecting and really fill up the table!
