Yes, Happy Birthday! (But I beat you to 41 by a lunar month.)

You're an X-Mas baby? How does that work out for you? Is every birthday a major holiday, or is it kind of lost in the shuffle?

Stefan

Happy Birthday !!! I wasn't on-line for two days. Instead I spend quality time with my son Philip who got a Nintendo DS for his Birthday (yes - he is born on the 25th as well) playing Pokemon. About beating you to the punch - well - we have to keep you on your toes :D
And I feel to produce some pieces is a more direct way for suggestions as in the suggestion area. After all it shows at least someone was keen enough not to wait for you. And I always see this as giving you suggestions as you can see what works / what doesn't - and how you would improve on it.

Jim

Would be great to get a few track to test out. In this case I won't look on E-bay. Just let me know if you need my address again.

Everyone else

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sorry - I had big plans but didn't follow anything up in the last days. But I will try to get back and make some more pieces.

Stefan your birthday is Christmas as well? Cool!!!

Mine is to. My immediate family always made sure about the presents of getting both a birthday and a separate christmas present so in that regard never felt cheated but never had a birthday party. Of course you could hold it in July but just never seemed right so never did. I just grew up pretending that EVERYONE was celebrating my birthday. :)

How about you Stefan? Did you get "cheated" out of presents or birthday parties?

Thod -

e-mail me your shipping address again in a day ortwo; it'll be that long at least before I can find some Atlas or Peco N-gauge track.
The Peco HOe track sounds interesting, but I've never seen it (AFAIK) here in the states. I'll look for it as well.

Hope all was well in Deal; sounds as if it was cool for you and Thod, Jr. I hope Philip didn't beat you TOO badly at Pokemon!

See ya!

HOe is narrow gauge for HO scale using 9 mm spacing (same as the N scale spacing). In the US the scale is often referred to as HOn30, because it represents a track gauge of 30 inches and is often used to model the 2 foot gauge railways up in Maine.

As far as Presents go...I was spoiled! I'm an only (adopted) child, and they have always spoiled me...... But like you, what I felt bummed about was not being able to have a birthday party:(
Although, I must confess, Sometimes, I had a mini party with a couple of Jewish friends who were blessedly available:)

Thanks everyone!

Happy Holidays!

Stefan

Well - as far as presents go in our family - we do the Christmas presents the German Way at the evening of Christmas Eve - and Philip gets his Birthday presents when all his friends get their Christmas presents - next morning.

All

Yep - hijacked topic - trying to get it back now.

Here are a few more pictures. Production is slow - and I start running out of some bits ... Will have to see how much more I can make. At least the stones are plentiful - they are just around our house from Deal shingle beach. But next time I need to take a wall with me - I tend to collect stones which look nice but are too big ...

So what's new?

One straight wall and one curved wall. In addition I have started on a dead end and on a T. The dead end has the rails glued on - the T section is without rails. And some seperate rails are next to it. Some seperate rails are needed anyhow - just think chasm set. Such a rail needs to pass at least one chasm - at least if I'm the GM. Great ambush spot.

The two new floor pieces need to dry before I'm able to paint them. The white is PVA and some reaction between Vallejo Black Lava and Super Glue.

Feedback as always welcome.

Thod

Some updates:

Jim - check you mail - address on it's way.

All

I've now made a total of 12 floor plates.

With rails mounted: straight passage, curved passage, end of passage (see last pictures posted)

Without rails:
All the three above
T-Passage (also shown already)
Open junction left
Open junction right
Opening into mining area
Wall one side
Curved wall

If you don't understand what I mean - think River and Lake set. The original pieces are from the River Set (passages with removable walls). The T-Passage is also from the 'river set'.
The remaining pieces are from the lake set - they allow bigger mining areas - similar to a lake.

I don't have all the pieces which Stefan created for the river set (I miss the X-junction) and I miss all of the Lake extension as well as the 'open lake' field. This means only medium sized open areas are currently planned (well - who knows ...). But with the experience from the Ice Set I was aiming to make a mold with 6 floor pieces as a good size. Well - off course this means two molds with 6 each now.

I haven't yet painted them all up. At least a quick dry brush would enhance their look a lot. There was still some white PVA showing earlier where I generously added some on top to keep small gravel in place. As the stuff is now outside it may take a little bit longer to dry out.

Walls - well - I have the two I posted. I need some more. One dead end and also some without the beams. Possibly I will make the dead end without the beams.

The next step then is - get some silicone in and make the molds. This will probably take at least 2 weeks. I have to contemplate if I use polyurethane or if I try polyester (non clear one). It's a lot cheaper - and so far I haven't seen any wear for the rubber. Well - will have to see. Probably will test out some polyester. Apart of the long cure I'm quite happy. And the non clear one should cure faster as the water clear version.

More pictures - well - I will see if I added some dry brush if I can make a set-up together with some DF cave pieces and off course DF walls as I will lack loads of them.

Stay tuned. Too bad that the job starts tomorrow again.

Thod

Whitewind:
I didn't understand what you mean - or should this be a slopeed piece to go up/down a level? Yes - would be a great piece to add. Might need two of them going up half a level each. Would be in the 'extension' DF mine ;)

Oh sorry I did not mean to " go up a level " maybe a section of track " curve and strait " that has damage or in a ruined state. Of coarse some sort of elevator " sort of like a canal lock but with a set of ropes " to change levels would be nice too. :)
