So, this is the first effort. I rate it a solid B. It's certainly worth having, I think it's an improvement over the original WOTC offering, and I do like the color. It gets the effect across.

BUT it is missing the coolest feature of a GC -- transparency! -- so I'm definitely going to take another stab at this one of these days. May be a while -- not only do I not have the time, I am also now out of resin, and don't have time to get more. So... yeah.

Anyway, here's a comparison of the original and the conversion.

nice. It looks like this gcube has been doing his chores cleaning up the dungeon.

What did you use to colour the resin? The reason I'm asking - I assume some water traces are the reason for one of my Gelantinious Cubes to have become opaque. In this case using less colour might not really help. I also notice a lot of bubbles - at least this is what they look like.

In a way I like the shots as you can see a figure struggling but can't see details. But I know how it feels when something doesn't work out.

Anyhow - THANKS A LOT for sharing. This helps others to refine

I've just started to use some black colour paste on my polyurethane resin. I bought it together with the resin for the ice set - but so far I have dragged my feet using it. But I'm absolutely happy with it - see other thread. But it was $20 just for this single colour.

I just used a tiny spot of raw sienna that I put on the stirring stick before I started stirring.

I've used this stuff, and this method, before, and it's usually worked. I just have usually used a smaller amount of resin, so I've known (after an early mistake) to use VERY little paint. This time, I had much more resin to use, and I thought I could get away with more paint. I was wrong.

I have never had a problem with Envirotex going opaque for any other reason, though. Left alone, it's pretty thoroughly clear.

Definitely taking another shot at this, someday...

Quick addendum: I have to say, the thing does do some pretty cool things in the right light. Very funky effects. I'll see if I can capture them on film -- may not be able to....

I agree on the Envirotex, i have never had it go opaque, i wonder if ti is a reaction with the plastic from the GC?

My second attempt -- MUCH better this time.

These aren't the best pics, sadly, but they do give a decent sense of how it looks. I tried to get one good overhead shot so you can see the floor (and the seam) underneath, just to show off how transparent it is. And of course you can see the victims suspended inside -- I picture them clawing their way to the surface, dying along the way in the struggle, being slowly digested....

Muahahahah... simply nefarious... the only way this could possibly be any better would be if the cube was actually capable of engulfing the players' minis!

Excellent job.
