All

In the last two days I was forced to do some 'clean up' off all my bits scattered around. While doing so and basing some of my plaster cavern walls which I had done as masters (but never painted) for the ice set I stumbled upon some 2 year old unfinished project.

I've once already shown here how to use a drill and a lego lever to mimic a lever in a wall. Due to the simplicity of the job (just a steady hand, a drill of the right size - and minutes later you are done) I tried to imbed a small flat 2 piece lego block to allow addition of 2 levers. I even bought some more levers as well as other useful Lego online (go to www.bricklink.com someone here on the board did recommend the link - thanks).

But this never worked - and the piece was in a box - ruined. Well - since then I got a Dremel - so just a few minutes work and some super glue - and finally I finished what I tried two years ago.

The beauty of the Lego - you can exchange it. I have a small 'treasure chest' of useful Lego pieces which can be used. I used the lever in the past - will have to use some maps or spiders in the future.

Enjoy

The bit I like is the wall-mount for map and image pieces. I'd love to be able to mount tiny paintings or tapestries or signs on the walls of a set-up, and switch them out for different adventuring needs.

Thod,

That is a great idea for a mod. Even I can do that one. THanks for the heads up.

I agree that this is a great idea. I've got tons of Lego as well as DF, and seeing those levers on the wall sold me on doing this as well.

Fantastic idea !!!! I'm going to try something similar with some rare earth magnets, myself.

On picture 4 or 5 you can see a blnak, black Lego block. Just get several of these and print out whatever you like (or take grey / white ones instead). I got a few exactly for this purpose - but realised not enough.

Shadox

Yes - the simplicity is really great - at least if you just try the left one in picture 1. The only bit it doesn't really allow if two levers next to each other. Otherwise it is even superior to the other one as it is easier to get stuff off again - and you can tilt it 360 degree. Even mount a picture deliberately tilted.

Monte

The best compliments I can get is when people try it out themselves.

Myrthe

I've tried magnets - with mixed success. Depending on shape they will be more difficult to get fixed. And if they aren't strong enough (meaning thick/big enough as well) you can have problems. Try it out and please report back how it went. I've tried magnets twice now - with mixed results and would love to see how someone else is using it.

Yes - the two greatest modular building systems I own.

Thod -

ReBob and I could have used THIS idea for Xixxix's Quest! We had a FIVE-LEVER machine puzzle in one level of the maze that would have worked perfectly with this (although I don't know if I have the Lego pieces; the only Lego stuff I have is the Robotics stuff).

I KNEW I should have consulted with you about SOMETHING! I just didn't know what it was.

Oh, well.

See ya - OH, and, yes, I AM going to be ordering some RUGS from you, Omar!

Yes - just drop a mail to me from time to time - always there to help

If started to work on some Lego / Resin picture frames. Got the idea looking at some pictures from Ghengis Ska showing a painting in a treasure hoard. Unfortunately the first attempt last week didn't work out. Hope to give it another try this weekend. Stay tuned - I will get them done eventually.

In the meantime I added back a nice picture of the lever in action. Must have posted this one 2 years ago - but it's in the part which got lost here on the boards.
