Well, I finally got my hands on some Dwarven Forge tiles. My gaming group's DM has an absolute ton of them that we use pretty regularly with the group... we love the actual representations that he gets out of them and it really adds another element to our game play.

But I've been bugging him for some time to let me get some so I can use them as back drops. I paint minis, love doing it, but sometimes I want more than just a blue background.

Got my wish tonight and just had to try them out to see how they looked under the camera with the miniatures I have sitting in my painted case.

So here they are, just two figures with the some DF tiles as the backdrop. Great stuff, and I can't wait to pick up some when I am at GenCon this year...

And now since I have a better camera, I'll take more images of our group's gaming when we've got an entire dungeon set up. We really do have a blast with the layouts.

Whoof!

That was me having the wind knocked out of me. Holy !#@#!$!!! That is some serious quality painting. Wow.

Well, welcome to the fold! If you're gonna have figures that look that good, they NEED Dwarven Forge as a home. They won't look as good anywhere else!

Jester is one of the guys that makes my painted minis look pretty lame in comparison. ;)

Hey, welcome to the forum, Jester! What's the news on the back surgery?

More back surgery talk!

Man, I'm feeling a little better -- I guess back problems are kinda common!

Kradlo, it's now been almost 7 weeks since the second back surgery (21 weeks since the first) and as you can see, I'm getting back into the swing of painting. The pain is receding, and I'm feeling improvement in the back/nerves every week.

As for the rest, yes, I really do love how my minis look on the Dwarven Forge tile sets. It's nice playing with painted miniatures, but even better to have something other than a squared mat to play on. :D

hello Jester,

Welcome to the Forum. Outstanding work! The simulated metal sheen look on that axe is sweet...as well as the little gems that glow with light. very clean painting, smooth transitions, just beautiful...i think they would look even better against a darker background, like a dank dungeon wall which would contrast nicely.

thanks for sharing!

Jester;

I think I just saw Joe Dorffner's painting fall to the wayside. He's one of the top mini painters I'VE ever seen, and yours make his look anemic!

He's the Game Room chair at Shore Leave, so if you get there, you'll see his figs at the 40K and WH Fantasy tables.
