OK, so this is more a D&D minis post than a DF one -- though the DoE is the backdrop, of course...

So here's what we have -- where possible, I've placed the original alongside for comparisons. When the figure is solo, I've painted my only copy...

The Devotee of the Silver Flame -- original in blue with an off-white, nearly grey cape. My repaint gives a more jade color to the tunic, and a green cape. (I did paint the sword hilt on the original gold, and the repaint has a copper one)

The Strahd zombie I have given a greenish brown inkwash, given some darker red to the guts, and put red on the mouth.

The Inspired Shock Trooper, I gave copper highlights to the shield, and to the sword hilt (which was, like most of the minis, unpainted)

The Cormyrean War Wizard I gave a purple/blue cloak to -- as with the Blood of Vol cultist in the previous set, a really neat, basic sculpt was inexplicably given a bland, monotone paint scheme.

The Gravetouched Ghoul had unpainted pants -- a quick drybrush took care of that. Not a very impressive repaint, but it brings out the detail they seemed determined to hide.

Same goes for the Vampire Hunter.

The Wild Elf Warsinger was in brown -- I put one in green.

The Knight of the Chalice came in maroon -- I put one in aqua.

The Duergar (dark dwarf) came largely unpainted -- I added purple highlights, painted the gold keys, added some drybrushing to draw out the detail.

The Werewolf Lord is one I don't have another to show, which is a shame -- I'm quite proud of my repaint. His highlights originally were very blocky -- the light chest just suddenly stopped, with a straight line, at the darker back. And there was a light square on his neck that stopped at the seam. His snout was similarly blocked off. So I took some black to blend and blend, and I'm very happy with the smoother transitions now.

I will probably do some more careful repaints later, but this was just a quick attempt to fix up some problems I considered somewhat major.

L,

These are great. I hope you do not mind but I am going to steal some of your touch up ideas. Especially with the Zombie and Duergars. I like your touch up on the Werewolf Lord, Wild Elf Warsinger, and the Gravetouched Ghoul also. Great Work.

Really nice touch ups on this one. Love the zombie. Amazing what a brown wash did for here. " What a zombie makeover."

Very nice job, L !!

What kind of paint do you use? I've been wanting to do some repaints myself but I've been leary of using regular (GW, Vallejo) paints for fear they may flake or peel off of the bendy plastic. What has your experience been ?

Thanks and great work !!

I used Golden Fluid Acrylics, same paints I use for all my stuff -- but over at the painting forums at the WOTC site, people seem to use regular mini paint with no problems (GW, Reaper, etc). So go nuts! ;)

Gosh...i'd gladly pay 1.5 - 2x as much if the minis looked like the ones you touched up. Nice job!
