I think the McF dragon is just small. Don't get me wrong -- Cthulu is a good size, not so large that storage is a problem, but he's not tiny either. But that dragon is notoriously tiny, so it's not like Cthulu is towering over a WOTC Icon dragon or something.

Yeah, kinda makes you wonder why or how WOTC could justify a $75 price tag on their Collossal Red Dragon Icon ... good thing for internet / retailer discounts because I just had to have it anyway !!

Hey L I was thinking about picking up this Berserker Clan dragon as a stand in for Cyan Bloodbane in a campaign I am running. What's the story with the chains and collar? Can you take it off the mini? Id like to pick this thing up but will need to remove the chains and little men on the base. Then of course touch up any paint as needed. Does this all seem possible?

I would LOVE to see that. I considered doing something like that to mine, but I chickened out, mostly because I don't have the space for two of these, and I'd want to keep one as it was originally designed...

Here's the deal. The figures would somewhat easily come off, I expect -- they're so small, even if the glue on them were very tough, I suspect it would be easy to pop them off.

The collar is actually designed to come right off, it opens up and everything. BUT it isn't designed to STAY off -- there's a small hole in the underside of the neck, and the collar has a peg that plugs into it. So you'd need a tiny amount of modelling skill, to plug the hole with green stuff and paint over it. Since the dragon is green, you could probably get away with leaving it unpainted, too, though the neck is whiteish, so it would look funny...

Worst case scenario, you'd just have a small hole that's on the underside of the neck and not all that visible.

I think the design on the Berserker from series 5 is excellent, and the colors are great. The undersides of the wings are wonderfully painted, too, with a nice gradual blend from darker flesh tone to a white color. If the chains and humans were gone, it'd be one of the best basic D&D type dragons the line produced.
