It's coming along quite nicely, Thod; quite nicely.

Wow, this I like. Are you considering covering the LED's with a clear gem of some sort? Maybe one of those glass beads from Pente? Just a though.

All

It's finished - well - at least kind off. I used it the first time for a game yesterday. I will post some pictures later today.

Whitewind - glass beads sound good. Thanks for the idea. I had a look at a local store but decided I would have to go with the piece and try out some beads. They all have holes - so I don't know how this affects functionality.

But these are improvements ...

until later

All

Here are the photos I promissed. I'm actually disappointed as I didn't realize that I missed quite a few shots. Well - players arrived just when I had finished the set up.

About the game - the group is still doing Castle Zadrian - an 'quick' AEG adventure. The Half Elf Sorcerer just got bookstabbed and burned by a wand of fire balls (see gaming section for more details). The group was on the way back to the village to recuperate.

As it was the birthday of one gamer and as we had a special guest (former player who moved away was visiting) I arranged a special session. So instead of teleporting out they teleported into an octagonal room. There was already the paladin waiting for them - he arrived two weeks earlier (in game time) and since then was completely stuck.

The key was, that only someone on his birthday could trigger the stone.

Five heroes you need
To escape from here
But only once a year
You can trigger the stone
Then let Tymora decide
Which keys you are allowed
As three are needed
To get sustenance
And to go back again

I had prepared 8 'encounters'

1 and 2 where some riddles. In the first one they would meet the owl on the piece of rock further down the table. Riddle 2 involved to meet a mage in the mystic block area. I'm still working on that one - still need to make some more casts. But I'm pleased with the bits I have - all resin cast.
Encounter 3 were a group of skeletons in DOE. You couldn't cross the water - turning them and getting a key by magic was the only way forward.
Encounter 4 were a group of Orcs - behind some heavy cover. Crossing the river was 'possible' but would mean time to get there while in a rain of arrows. A fireball did the trick - but the group had to trust the kobold sorcerer and hand him back the wand which killed the original sorcerer in the group.
Then there was some water and rustmonsters behind on the other site. Mist was obscuring the view and it took a while for the group to figure out what was behind on the other site.
Encounter 6 was ment to be a double ganger challenge - a mirror and a one on one with Birthday Boy.
Challenge 7 was ment to be a trap pacour. Didn't have time to build it up and the rogue in the group didn't appear anyhow.
Challenge 8 - well - this one was easy - a birthday cake needed to be gulped down - and for once OOC was allowed.

As the whole adventure is partly in other planes I didn't build up some areas. At the edges where the table cloth started there was just nothingness ...

The group actually did the skeletons, followed by the orcs and the rust monsters. In this order - all decided by the push of the obelisk.

The whole set up was quite a success. Yes - a D8 would have worked as well. But we are DF collectors because we like to play in Style.

Enjoy

Thod;

WAY COOL!
By the way; I recently bought some 'Mouse Rugs' at my local Pen store, and got one that looks exactly like your carpet!
NOW I just have to get the rubber off the back of the rug!
