All

This was part of the game yesterday - I was building up a few different sewer pieces and the party finally managed to get back from Undermountain. Got two members paralyzed with a random encounter carrion crawler - one of them falling in the water and being double deseased now. The market caused actually quite a challenge. I have a lawful good group of Tyr - with a newly joined rogue. Getting the Paladin and Cleric through the market without causing a major incident needed quite some roleplay on the site of the rogue.

I hope you like the market. I had the idea when I browsed the WIzards of the coast website and saw a free map for an underground market in a sewer system.

And this way I also finally found the time to do some photos for e-bay to sell off some of my surplus tiles later tonight. With all the new DF goodies out it is time to get them on the market.

Me like!

Definitely not the place for such a pious cleric and righteous paladin. Unless an inquisition of Tyr has them crusading through the sewers of Waterdeep. These underworld markets are full of perils, and here the rogue's skill with a sharp tongue, proved safer passage than their holy blades.

I can't remember if I commented on how much I like your 2" x 2" water tiles. I did read your post describing where you found them, and hope I can follow in your steps finding the like. But I'm also hoping you've inspired the proprietor's of DF. As I'm sure easily manufactured, this size water tile would make a great addition to the DF line. It would make for some beautiful setups seeing a wide sewer passage with tributaries all in matching color.

Great posts, keep them coming!

Thanks for your comments. About the tiles - my guess is you should get some in most tile shops. I got mine at the local tile shop - and we are a pretty small town. In addition you can also google the web - but there I prefer to see them myself. The main problem with glass tiles is price. I had a lovely collection of italian hand manufactored ones - you could get them in 4*4' (standard size), 2*4, 2*2' and even 1*2 and 1*1. A lovely selection of different colours - unfortunately £2.50 each for the 2*2 size.
I therefore opted for a cheaper solution - the tiles shown here are part of a mosaic. Advantage - 'just' £17.50 for a 6*6 mosaic. Disadvantage - you got 4 different colours - 9 of each. Well - I felt this is no real problem as I guess someone will be interested in the surplus ones - especially if I add some walls to go with them for added flexibility.
And yes - I hope DF will pick up on some of the bits I post here. The 2*2' tiles really go a long way in regard of building sewers. As I posted - I had the original idea when I saw one of your multiple level setups with the big water tiles. It was a breathtaking display.
But I feel for a real sewer crawl the 2*2' seem just a much more convenient size.

Good luck in finding some tiles. Just hope the size is common in the US as well.

Thod -

AWESOME setup! I gotta admit, I had not thought about the sewers as you and others had talked about them before, although I COULD see where they might be useful.
NOW, though, having seen what you've done in an actual game environment, ME LIKE! That is definitely WAY COOL!!
I gotta go find some glass tiles, now. Or at least, some VERY high-gloss ceramics in the correct shades of green and aqua.
THIS could get interesting!

See ya!

Very, very nice. I love the use of HA elements, you really found a great way to fill in some "gaps" in what we have from DF. And I love the little "ladder" that the harlot is leading them towards -- the paint makes it look all algae-covered and rotting.... Very well done, all of it.

Yeah, I want me some sewers. Oddly, they are one of those environments I was not really interested in originally. It just didn't feel "iconic" enough, not the way dungeons and caverns are.

But as time has passed, I've really come to see them as fantastic -- not only great companion pieces to the MBS, as a way of showing what's UNDER the town, but also a great combo item for the various water sets. They're really just like the dungeon equivalent of Cavernous Water sets, just a way of having water in neat channels in a built-up environment instead of naturally flowing through an untouched wilderness....

Actually - you just gave me an idea ... Starting with some sewers and let them flow into the cavernous river set as an extension - and possibly even further to the cavernous lake set to a smugglers cove.

Jim

One of the biggest compliments of showing something is if someone goes off and copies it. Look forward to see some more tiles of various flavours shown here.
