All

I just realized I never actually uploded a few more pictures from the ice set. The problem was, that I wanted to make photos during daylight - which rules out any time during the week at the moment.

These are the two room sets I produced. I've now used up all my resin and have started work on the sewer set. I also never posted pictures of the special pieces I made later when I already had posted the first ice pictures. I'm especially proud in regard to the ice chute and the broken wall. The ice chute was an idea I had what happens when someone just comes down through a trap door - or even behind a normal door.

I'm also please about the broken wall with debris. I also like the wider stair way. And the hand you can see is my son.

But too many words already - enjoy.

I liked your originals that i stole your method, but i used 50 instead of 70 and 71 for the blocks, they came out looking like huge ice cubes, kind of like what they used to cut out of rivers or lakes for ice houses.

The ice caverns look amazing.

Did you finally work out the technique so that the bricks weren't taking forever to set? Or is it still a 24 hour turn around time for casting the bricks?

Thod,

That turned out GREAT!

I was wondering,

Are you planning on expanding anymore upon this theme in the future? This set seems to have so many possibilities available.

Can you post some photos. Would like to see the normal blocks. Currently I have the complete fieldstone molds (inclusive both towers and the bridge) and getting a mold with ghotic stones is on my whish list for the next five molds I like to order.

Lupus

The best I worked out was - cast the stones. Place them in a box and wrap with a black sack. This allows storage indoors without too many fumes to escape. Curing time is due to the material. Clear polyurethane resin should be a lot better - as it sets faster (not as fast as normal polyurethane resin though). But it costs >$50 for just 2 liter.

Wereweasel

Yes - I have grand plans - but they often are grander as what I actually achieve as they all need time to be accomplished. My original plan was to make some own molds and start to cast 2inch square waterways using some colouring agents. Well - when I went into the tile shop to get tiles for my grand lake set-up these plans changed. I shelled out a lot on glass tiles. This was also easily >100 dollar which I just left there. This means my order for loads of new clear resin and colours is currently on hold.
With the colours I also planned to test out red and yellow plus resin for some fire or lava effects. But there is only as much I'm currently willing to spend on my self build modifications.
One ice room set is now on E-Bay since yesterday to raise new funds for experimentation. A few tiny accesories hopefully follow on Saturday - I've done the casting - but still need assembly and painting.
Time is mainly what is in short supply. So plans are there a lot ...
You can be assured - I will post here both successes as well as failures.

How'd I miss this before?

Anyhoo -- great stuff! Man, I'm jealous. There's something about the aesthetic of these clear pieces that really grabs me, it reminds me of when I was a kid and I really loved the clear Lego pieces. Very, very neat stuff.

Thod, sure thing i'll try to get some pictures tonight or tommorrow, (might provide the insperation to put the last few bits i have lying around together into complete somethings).

I went a slightly different way. I used what a normally mount my HA for DF blocks on, foam core instead of the blue foam, these new pictures look really nice and i;m not sure if i like the blue better, seeing your blue makes me allmost reconsider te white... I was going for snow back underneath and so used White foamcore saving my black for other projects, but that blue looks really "cool".

And i have a fealing i am using almost the exact same resin you are using becuase it takes about 12 hours to soldify enough to pop them out, and a full 24 to be relativly tackieness free. The time and odor are the biggest constraints, (and i have been side tracked by other projects one of them is working on a set of fully 3D Spell templates which i designed, and built in 1/4 and 1/2 scale to work out some issues, did a partial redesign last night on and now i have the all of the parts for, got the blueprints scanned into the computer and ready to print and build tonight a full scale mock up, now i just need textures for it and i will have fully 3D fireballs and just about everything else that is burst effect in D&D... if i can find the textures today at work it will be a snap to make tonight.)
