We started the Savage Tide Adventure Path from Dungeon recently (mainly because i was a little burned out after doing the SW game for so Long i didn't want to think about creating a camp i just wanted to run it and be done with it.)

So we are doing the Savage Tide.

So far we have a Male Human Fighter, a Male Elf Rogue, and a Male Human Wizard, they got their Butts handed to them on a platter in the first adventure so they decided to go off an hire a "healer".

I as the DM took that to heart and i wanted to get my $ worth out of the DDMH (D&D Miniatures Handbook) so i whiped up an NPC Healer from that book. Who has now saved the parties bacon more than once, considering the Feats taken (a couple of Complete Devine make the Healer Potent in there curative abilites) the Healer with the party with a Cure Light can heal +7 hp before they add in level effects means you are basically getting a cure serious for a Cure Light so they have a very effective HP battery with them.

I don't have any pictures of the sessions so far, but i have been using the DF to create a number of the set ups.

Here are the Tile system versions of two of the locations the small DOE one is the Vanderborren Vault from two weeks ago,, and the larger one is an old smugglers hide out under Parrot Island, what they ran through last night.

It looks like the Parrot Island was to big, will have to scale it and try again.

I finally had a chance to take some pictures of the setups.

Unfortunitally Sine i was going away on vacation the day after the Big Parrot Island set up, i didn't have my camera and the set up was taken down by the time i got back to take pictures.

Ok, man i guess when it isn't my own campaing (running a canned campign setting) i have not been as dillignet in taking photos. I thought i had taken more (well i did but i think the batteries on the camera were dying so i will have to regrab them early sunday before the set up gets taken down for sunday's game.

This is the "Training room" in the Lotus Dragon guild Hall from the Savage Tide. The Rogues were able to get off a Sneak on just about everybody, it was wonderfull for me as the DM, managed to take the new guy down twice to -3 or -5 in that single encounter, and put some nice smack down on the PC's for a few rounds....

Nice work GS.

I like the potted plants in the training room. More plastic aquarium plants?

Here are a few more.

Since our group doesn't have the shear amount of DF in "Fantasy" as we do in Sci-Fi (i have bought the Sci-Fi and the bulk of my purchases have been Sci-Fi or Cavern) there isn't enough to do a full set up so i am running this adventure series with a mix of DF and some HA built to go with DF, and the assemble as they enter the area style of play.

So these are a series of connected rooms that the the PC's ran through, i didn't grab any pictures of the passage ways they went down becuase those are rather boring and nothing really happened (they are so freaking Lucky when it comes to the few "random encounter/wandering monster checks" so far in every adventure I have run them in, they just don't hit the wanderers so the passages are rather boring affairs.

These rooms come off of the Training room, and yes Dromedarius those are aquarium plants, something i have been toying with, and depending on how some of these pictures, and what i do over Thanksgiving works out i may actually hit the top floor of my FLGS and raid their Doll house section for some stuff. I have looked at a number of items that might be usefull and in scale (or good enough for me) for detail items to add to sets. As it is i am using some 1/4 - O - Scale furniture already from them and it works out pretty well.

But one of the things i like about Bombat and an idea L had some time ago was adding Detail to the actual Bits, some thing i have done here (with the Starw) and i will be doing later.

So a few more rooms

GS;

Works for me; does it work for your gamers?
If so, then it is definitely a workable solution.
I would suggest, IF you can find it, that you go with 'S' scale furniture, as that is much closer to the correct scale for 25-28mm miniatures.
That is based on 25.4mm/1" per 5'; 5'=60"; that makes the scale of the miniatures 1:60, or 1/60th scale. 'S' scale model railroading is 1:64; and that should be close enough for anyone, wouldn't you think?
But, again, it's YOUR game, and YOUR models, and (mostly)YOUR miniatures; you use the scale YOU and YOUR gamers can agree upon, and if any of US don't like it, well, you know what to tell US!
Don'tcha?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, DON'T eat all the turkey (in one sitting!), and remember the reason why we call it Thanksgiving (hint: it has NOTHING to do with all those football games).

See ya!

jkratzer I would love to get some S-scale stuff (mainly people), but it is just so freakin hard to find for a decent price, and much of it looks like it is out of the 20's that i keep looking but can't find anything i want in the price i want (i'm oddly pretty cheap except for a few things) or with the right look.

But the reasons i have been using 1/4 scale are the following.
It is pretty easy to find stuff in it becuase it is both 1/4 scale Dollhouse stuff, and O scale Railroading stuff.
While it may be techinally too big it is actually smaller than a lot of scenery and terrain elements made comercially and designed for 25-28mm scale figures. much of those are some what oversized so you can figure out what they are, and so they don't get lost, or dwarfed by the minis, or designed to take up the proper gaming area. I mean a 1x2 inch table is 5 ft by 10 ft that's a HUGE table but that is pretty much the standard size for a lot of tables you buy for 25-28mm, but it takes up 2 squares in d20 so it makes things easy, you can put 2 medium minis on top of it, or get 6 around it and it doesn't look too odd. otherwise you just have 4 people at a tables that has a very large surface area.
The 1/4 scale chair sets i have are smaller than the DF chairs i have.

One of the things i noticed the 1/4 scale while technically too big, doesn't look bad next to the 28mm minis, and the tables and chairs are actually smaller than a lot of the stuff you can buy for 25-28mm minis becuase with the basses on the minis being as thick as they are typically it makes the average character "taller" than they should be if they were just standing on the floor.

If you consider a Minis base is what 1/8 of an inch or so, that turns out to be more than half a foot in game terms so most minis end up being about 6 inchs taller than they are. If you put them down next to a truely yo scale item the table they are suppossed to be sitting at is dwarfed by the guy standing next to it.

So I am very happy with 1/4 scale dollhouse stuff.

I can't believe i just typed that...

GS -

Just a sign that you're an adult now; you don't have to hide behind testosterone pills.
Those of us who are secure in our maturity feel no necessity to boast of our masculinity; we have wives to do that for us! And the ladies have husbands to do the same! And those whose orientation is different, have the necessary partners to take care of their bragging rights.
Only little boys and girls have to flash and brag for themselves.

So, type being happy with dollhouse stuff all you want; we know you're cool! And we're cool with it - and you.

See ya!

Okay, none of these are actually really DF, but i swear next week will be :)

Last night they started the second adventure in the path, The Bullywug Gambit. They had some wrap up, went to a party celebrating their sucess in the last modual, and got the option to do soem stuff in the city, then into the adventure.

Which the first part will actually be done very nicely in Caverns and Lakes/rivers. So i was looking forward to them getting there, but since players are players instead of taking the two day fast boat ride to the place they wanted to take ten days and go overland, through swamps and jungles (trolling for XP).

Well after facing a Hydra, and then a Hag and only making 2 days progress, they turned back, and bought a small boat and started sailing. The arrived finally at the end of the session.

But here are three pictures.

1 is them "chasing" of the Hag, it was down to 1 hp, and ran, but used it's Special abilites and the like to make them chase after nothing while it went the other way.... :)

So the first picture is the end of that fight, and the next two are my attempts at a 3D "fireball" spell effect.

I have looked at the Steelsquire ones, and i have to say they are kind of lacj luster to me becuase they are just 2D. So i did some thinking and used some of my Card stock experince to make a template for a Fully 3D spell effect. I have the bits to finish it, to it's full dimensions, but since the firball doesn't sit around i most likely won't do the fireball to that but instead will do it for the things like darkness and fog cloud which last for a number of rounds, and do them Black and white for the effect... ;)
