I'm quite exited about these photos - so I thought I will share them and ask for comments.

Very cool! (pun intended)

These are Hirst blocks in clear resin, yes?

Well spotted. I still need 3 more castings for a Ogre-Den sized room. It's the first time I use resin. I'm still in the process of learning what to do (and what not to do). First huge mistake - I didn't know the difference between Polyester Resin and Polyurethan Resin. Mixed up gel time with cure time and now I have to wait 24 hours each cast. So much for going the cheaper option ...

But I'm quite exited about these first assembled bits - so couldn't wait to share.

Great news to hear you are contemplating some ice caverns. Wouldn't have needed to bother if I could get my ice set from you already. Guess a lot of users here will be exited to hear Ice will become a reality.

HA also just came out with the first two molds for caverns. So far some floors and accessory. Walls will follow - but will take at least another 3 month. And I first wanted to test one some molds I have.

Further plans - a wall with a hole - partly molten (excuse to use up the pieces I messed up in my first two castings ...). I will post once I have done some more. Another cast is waiting to cure. Should be fine tomorrow morning.

This is very exciting news!

I live in Phoenix, AZ and I could actually feel the temperature drop a few degrees when I read Stefan's reply.

I can't wait for that set!!

Thanks again for news!

Here are some updated pictures with the production since yesterday. This cast was my best so far with the stones becoming more regular and less sticky. Off course demoulding after <20 hours doesn't help on the latter one. But it allows to assemble them without any glue.

Seems 24-48 hours are needed for the stuff to be non sticky. Too long a wait for me at the moment ...

Not sure what the white ape is - but he looked like a Snow monster.

I know what to do with that stuff for a modern environment! A model of the Ice Hotel at JukkasjÀrvi, of course! Great as a relaxed Star Wars setting when it's time to develop the tourist potential of Hoth! :-)

wow, nice. Good thought to put the blue foam on the bottom makes it look more icy. I have a painted up old Ral Partha D&D Remorraz that would feel real at home in this stuff.

Dandy stuff there! You may want to add a little snow powder into the corners, and scattered here and there on the floor sections. There are a number of different companies making the stuff.

Snow covered bases are all the rage now. Some icy bases would be wonderful.

Keep up the great work, and keep posting the pics!
