In a post in the Gaming Talk section, I had mentioned using a menu-holder as a GM screen, just slipping in the sheets that I need for a certain game (d20 modern is what happens to be in it at the moment). It is great for situations where no GM screen can be found for purchase (or cases where none of them seem to have the info you need most). And the menu holder only costs ~$5 (and is completely reuseable).

There is a small amount of sag in the pictures, but each sleeve only has 1 piece of paper in it. That shouldbe easily corrected by some cardstock or other stiffening method. The difference between the two pictures is with / without flash.

What's on the other side? Did you use pics of hot, bikini-clad lovelies to distract the players?! ha ha...

That looks pretty good fiddy...not bad!

I've mentioned this in other threads -- I think it would be pretty cool if Dwarven Forge designed and made one for the fans...similar to this, except a little bit thicker/sturdier (polystone???). I see such a product from them unfolding like some arcane book where on one side it would have the sleeves, of course, for custom sheets, but on the PC's side there would be Stephan's artwork (sculpted???) for all to see. Now that is something that I would love to see!!

Dante - nope, I was a bit lazy and didn't put anything on the reverse (why I didn't bother taking a pic of the other side). I had planned to scan in the covers of the d20 modern books, but didn't get around to it. I'm currently planning to do something similar for a d6 game I'll likely start running next year, (using the covers for the players side), but those covers look a lot nicer than the d20 modern ones.

Ghostmage - now there's an interesting idea! But I would absolutely need something designed to store it in so as not to damage the sculpture during transport.

Yeah, I agree -- a special storage container would be a must for such an item! If DF does end up making their own version of a DM/GM screen, I think it has potential to be their biggest selling item. There probably are a lot of players out there that may be using "other" dungeon terrain pieces (for whatever reason), but even if they felt that the DF pieces were too expensive, I bet they would purchase a quality DM screen...especially if it's the coolest one on the planet!

Put me down for 2 -- I'm ready to pre-order today!

Ooh, ooh, ooh; Me too, me too!!!

Jim

PS: Well, I went over to KaTom and ordered two of their menu folders, so I'm good to go for now - but I STILL want that sculpted one from Stefan!

Meanwhile, I think a Great Laugh cover would be to find a copy of the Warhammer 40K cover that someone replaced the Blood Angel leader with Hello Kitty; THAT was one of the funniest pieces of cartooning I've seen in a long time! And I can almost Guarantee it WILL crack up your gamers, at least when they first encounter it.

That's the great part of these screens; you can customize them as fast as you can print inserts.

See ya!

wolfzell -

THANK YOU!!!!
Since I've ordered the tri-fold, and my friend is such an AVID WH40K'er, this WILL make his Christmas!

And as far as GW is concerned, if I don't sell the printout, and my friend doesn't sell the printout, they're not llikely to get all litigious. Besides, the guys at GW-USA HQ actually DO have a sense of humor, and will ROFL on this one.
On the other hand, the anal-retentive types at GW-UK "Might" get a bit upset, but I've heard - unofficially - that even Gav Thorpe has seen and giggled over this one. Unconfirmed, but quite probable.

Anyway, thanks again, and although it's a bit early, Merry Christmas to you!

See ya!

Ok, I looked and searched and searched and the company that made the original Master Screen is gone and so is the product.

I like the idea of the menu folder. Has anyone found a good sorce for them? Will a simple cardboard insert make them stiff enough for regular play? (so they arent' drooping over) Did anyone find a version that is "landscape" oriented?

fiddy, I meant to ask you, where did you find your menu cover? I've been looking online for a resource that will ship me just 1 but most of the places I've found only sell in quantities of 25 or greater. Thanks in advance for the tip or link.
