Now we see how cultured magic users begin a duel.

Yes, I am bored!

There was an old Disney movie with two dueling wizards who just sat in their thrones, tossing spells back and forth at each other. Boris Karloff was one of them, and if memory serves me well (which is hasn't been doing lately!), I think Vincent Price may have been the other.

Anybody remember that movie from their childhood?

I don't remember that one, but I remember a sort of psionic duel that was really awesome at the end of Scanners....what a classic!

Do you mean "The Raven" (1963)?

I don't think I've ever seen the "Scanners" ending complete and unedited... the televised versions suddenly jumped from throbbing veins in foreheads to the last line of the movie. I should try to get that for the old DVD collection, it's a real classic.

As for other great wizard duels in cinema, I refer you to the sorceresses' combat in "Willow" (which I personally think was influenced by the Black Knight duel in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"), and the "transformation duel" from Disney's "The Sword in the Stone".

Yeah, I believe it was the RAVEN...and it was Vincent Price along with Karloff...as I remember Peter Lorie had a cool part in that one too. Man, you guys are bringing back some cool memories!

YES! The Raven. Funny--my "movie expert" just showed up at my door (good friend of ours). I asked him and he said (word for word), "Do you mean 'The Raven'?" ha! I don't know why I thought it was a Disney film. Maybe there was some Disney thing going on the last time I saw it as a kid.
