OK, some of these are early test pics of some place-able jungle flora I made from aquarium plants, but the rest are pics of the Caverns of Quatl-Chupacabra.

There's something really neat, I think, about an unpopulated, undecorated DF setup -- just the big, empty expanse itself. I really like this setup, but it's extremely simple. Just a single cavern set, a few cavernous passage elements, some walls and floors, and three Mystic Bloks jungle accessories.

One of these pics -- I won't say which -- I like to call "Oh @#$@#$, I think he's seen us...."

I took some large bases I had left over -- poked holes where the pegs would normally go, and then stuck the stems in and glued them.

It helps if you have bases with holes and not slots -- the circular bases that GW's LOTR horses came with, and I had a few large square ones that have holes and I don't remember where I got them....

Once I stuck some plastic plants into some bases, I coated the base with texture, then painted it up brown and stuck some small rocks on it. Not fancy, but effective. I may make more.

They're primarily for use with the river set, of course -- to reflect in the water, line the banks, etc....

Then would not GW titan bases with Woodland Scenics cast rocks for ballast be best?
Yes?

Law, you are back to the high quality layouts of a few years back.
Cool set-up!
I was concerned that your fount of creativity had dried up, but it certainly has not.
You were just letting IO and others have the spotlight for a while, yes?
Thank you for sharing your great talent with us once again.

I love the Chupacabra touch; most do not even know the legend or the monster.
The sucky thing with it is that there are four different spellings for just one creature.

Thanks for the kind words, RF! I only wish I had time to play on this setup -- things are so busy now it's pure decoration only.

"Sucky," huh? Very precise choice of words I see....

Yes?

Actually, I didn't need ballast at all. The weight and balance on these is perfect, and the pegholes were almost exactly the right size. If anything, they were too big -- I had to trim the stems into points to get them to fit, and in some cases even that was unnecessary. It was really effort-free.

I suppose it might look more accurate with less base showing, if I had used more elaborate rock terrain on the bases. I may do that, still, so they blend better with the river elements in June....
