This is a very simple layout I put together to try out the Sci-Fi Beta Elements. I figured I might as well take some pictures while I was at it. Looking at the pictures, I really need to get some background cloths to put under my sci-fi sets.

For those curious, this used 2 Beta sets, 1 Alpha set, and I think 2 each of the floors and passages (though I may be mis-remembering on the floors and passages).

Great layout.

Hi Fiddy,

I haven't actually gotten mine yet from Jeff...I really like the way you used the curved half floor to create sort of entrance to a room...had not thought of that, very kool...I personaly think all the curves add a kool new look to the sci-fi stuff, can't wait to get mine (yes it's true, I don't have any yet, he,he,he...)

Fiddy;

Nicely done; using the diagonal walls and floors together with the straight walls is somewhat original - or at least, I don't remember seeing it here, or anywhere else, including some of the setups my group has used - and we're pretty "inwentif" as Chekov would have said. And of course, Stefan's comment about the curved pieces, both corridors and walls, also goes straight to the point.

I hope you will be attending GenCon there in Indy this year. It'll be my first one, and I hope to meet you at the DF booth, along with IO, GS, and anyone else who can make it, along with the DF crew - Stefan & Mari, Jeff & Lori, Doug, and all those folks that make DF work but never get mentioned!

See ya!

Stefan, I really like the curves as well, I just wish there were 'fillers' for use on the inside and outside of the curves (so that rooms could be more easily placed against corridors). Of course it would be nice to get similar fillers for the 4-way intersection... (I realize that I could probably make some fillers, but would prefer a more 'finished' look than what I'm likely to make).

Jim, Yep I'll be at GenCon Indy this year. I've been to all of them since they moved to Indy, and have to go this year since it may be my last chance. Rumors have said that it may move to another city after this year (evidently GenCon is already outgrowing our convention center, and our new one won't be finished until 2008/2009).

Thanks for the kind words all!

"filler" pieces would be my next most requested "brand new" item.
have to agree with Fiddy I tried making some and they came out so so. for now am using some hand made ones with Hirst art floor bits that are while not bad, not quite right. The look kind of finished but i think i need to do a bit more work on them to get them closre to right, still to much open space, but a DF piece designed to fill in would be better than Rockem sockem robots.

I gotta agree with Fiddy and GS about the curved fillers; I don't know if I can make a casting of a curved wall and cut off the wall part without screwing up the works, and I can't buy curved walls separate to chop up like I used to do!
Stefan; HELP!!!!

See ya!

Actually, I read about two weeks ago that GenCon had signed to stay in Indy for the foreseeable future. Good news for us midwesterners, but not as good for me personally as if they had moved it to McCormick Place in Chicago. :) In any event, I'll be there as well!

Black cloth is good. I was using a piece of suiting material, but that got snaffled by SWMBO for another job, so I invested in a big piece of black 'fleece' material (the sort they make fleece jackets for hiking and stuff from). It looks great, is very lightweight, and the DF bits don't slip around on it at all - bye-bye bow-ties!

Medieval Buildings Set, Caverns x2, Cavernous Passages, Room and Passage, Deluxe Room, Octagonal Room, Narrow Passages, Advanced Builder, Wicked Additions I, Wicked Additions II, Traps I, Traps II, lots of individual pieces. I want Cavernous Rivers, and Cavernous Lakes, and Cavernous Ledges. Can you tell that I like caverns?

See Stefan.
There are far more people than just I that want the filler pieces that make it possible to make the corridors into being walls for rooms along with being there normal function.
Would be very nice if they could show up before 2008 like you were saying a while back.

This may sound like a crasy idea, but instead of a "full" set, maybe make a small set of filler bits.

Just 4 filler corners for the pieces that would flush out the flooring on the +, 4-6 filler floor sections that would flush a floor to a corridor into wall (although to be optimal a slightly differnt wall is needed, but i could live with out it). If it were x2 on those items it could be a simple set, in the range of the Alpha price, to make something to mesh up our corridors into wall...
