So here are some pics of the new, series 3, McFarlane dragons. In some ways, I prefer these to the series 2 dragons -- they are certainly bigger, and they have a nicely non-traditional aesthetic about them. The "swimming" dragon, as with series 2, awaits the photographic excellence of IO to make it shine its best.
Some of these pics are not my best, the circumstances were not ideal for photography. But if you want to see close-up shots of the dragons themselves, check out spawn.com. These just give you a sense of scale and what they look like with DF -- one dragon in particular looks really great, like he's kind of toying with the DF elements himself.

I'm also including a pic of a little "gate" I made up out of GW bits, and I threw in a Toy Biz Aragorn picture just to be silly.

Your pics are always a treat L…

I really like the yellow dragon in the second through forth picture. It has a classic D&D feel about it. I haven’t seen these for sale yet…I be honest I haven’t even looked. Are they priced similar to series two?

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words, IO.

These are only available at Spencers Gifts right now, they had a special deal with McFarlane. But they will be everywhere in the next few weeks.

They are the same price as series 2 -- about $10 at TRU, $11 at other places and some TRUs. They are $12 at Spencers, so if you are picky, or plan to get all of them, you probably want to wait.

There is a fourth one, but it is more humanoid and looks terrible, so I passed. Still waiting on the box set, as well -- perched on a stone spire, it looks PERFECT for placement in a DF cavern.

Wow -- McFarlane is moving REALLY fast. No sooner did series 2 come out, series 3 started showing at Spencer gifts.

Now, before series 3 is in wide release, before the boxed set is out at all, there are pics of two of the dragons from series FOUR, due out in October I believe.

These are pics of the series 4 Komodo and Berserker -- I believe the Komodo, on the branch, is the boxed set for series 4. The Berserker, with two heads, is a normal dragon.

A note on scale: these appear to be what the toy industry calls "two-ups" -- models sculpted at twice the size of the final product, to incorporate as much detail as possible. The Komodo looks like an ACTUAL komodo dragon, with wings glued on -- the branch, the pose, the detail, it is chillingly realistic. In any case, these pics don't show scale at all, I doubt the final product will be this large. But they do show how great these are going to be -- some of the best yet, I think! I can't wait.

There are more pics here for those who want to browse, but only these two are new, the others are all the ones I've shown already (plus the humanoid one):

Ah, my old friend "early morning sunshine." Got some pics of the series 3 Fire Dragon, I thought you guys might appreciate. These came out a lot nicer than the earlier batch, though I still can do better. Still, some nice sunlight effects, including my oft-used "backlit exposure bright crazy sunshine" shot....

Oh, and -- yes, he is leading a legion of DF miniatures into battle....

And the guy talks about my photos…

These are awesome!

The forth photo in your third post (my fave) looks like a celestial being is gating in and blasting the dragon with searing holy light…as it screams in agony.

Nice work.
