Alright we had the chance to finish that big fight, and in the mean time the layout was slightly redone, below is the redo of the Sith base. I wanted it in this big cavernous setting and when i made the risers, i decided to go kind of crazy, and make it really deep, 30 feet to the floor from the walk way, i was going to go for 40, but i was missing one riser to do it... shucks, but i think it looks kind of cool.

Nice! Great set-up -- methinks I spy the influence of a certain Overlord on your set design there! ;) Maybe I'm wrong, either way it looks great.

And are those HA tiles I see in one area?

Yeah one section has a 4 inch HA section, when we expanded it when it was re set up i was 1 short corridor off, and it just looked bad in my eyes with a 2 inch Dungeon one in there, so over the weekend i made up a 4 inch long HA corridor to drop in the palce of the 2 inch Sci Fi and the 2 inch Dungeon. If i had painted the floor it would have blended in much more seemlessly, but since it was a filler piece for now and actually designed to go with something else i didn't bother.

I am working on a series of corridors that are 4 inchs wide, instead of the 2 inch, I want a hallway big enough for say two detroyer droids to stand side by side, or have an AT-ST, Viper Droid, Hailfire droid or Rancor come lumbering down...

They take a while to do, and i have only gotten so far about 4 corridors that are 6 inchs long, and 4 wide, with two connector pieces that convert from 2 inches to 4 inches. I want to make some more, but the annoying thing about Hirst Arts is it takes a decent bit of time to do things, casting enough blocks to make something, and you always run out of a piece (or at leat i keep doing it)

and if you look closely in the photos with the HA corridor you can see another HA built item, a turbo lift i am working on, it is still relativly "primed" black becuase i am still trying to decide exactly how i want to paint these things, i think i have the scheme i want i just have to sit down and do it... sigh HA takes so much time...

Oh, and one of the things that may be hard to tell is that the photo P1010016.JPG, the one with the "glowing" red collum in the center, is a room that was actually under the room with all of the Crystals. The bottom of the shot titled Bridgecontfrentation, where you can see the corridors in the top level opened up, shows the entry way into that room from the bottom level. It was the sealed meditaion chamber of the sith lord that actually was pretty tricky for the PC's to figure out how to get into...

One question... where those cavernous sections come from? perhaps cavernscape? self-made? I like it very much, and I would need some of those. I cannot see any cavernscape photos on internet, so I don't know they looks like...

Thank you in advance... and very amazing pics!!! I have to show them to a friend that uses sci-fi (hahaaa... one I have corrupted), so perhaps he starts to wish some DoE... ;-)

The "walls" of the Cavernous sections are just the classic Pink Styrene insulation foam i made my self (some people use blue but my local store carries the Pink). I made a special purchase of 2 inch think ones so i wouldn't have to glue them to get the hiegth of the DF blocks Cut it into various sized pieces. Some were done specifically as long riseres for the support of passage sections just for thise, others were left kind of as big blocks (they are double sided one is that grey the other green for different environments) so i could have a good base and support that wasn't a huge white slab of nothing.

this is what they look like
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5/GhengisSka/risers.jpg
i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5/GhengisSka/patrol.jpg

then made a teaxture (just ran a serated knife down the edge to rough up the edges, used a spary latext paint (that wouldn't eat the foam) and made a base layer in black, then added some gray and brown as well to give it diminsion and color. The whole project took about two hours, that includes the 20 minutes of buying the foam, and the spary paint and driving home with them.

It is the basic wargaming terrain making stuff that i learned from going to pages like void gamers, and GW. I have dabbled in it some for my RPG as scenery elements, but since i don't wargame alot i haven't gone into the detail and depth that some have. And I'm not that impressed with my own skill in doing it yet, but i did like these.

ska, those risers are great! i've been wanting to make something like that for just that purpose. everything working off the 2" scale makes for so many stacking options...

Thank you very much for the info Khan!!! yeah, that's exactly the purpose I had in mind: rise levels!!! Nice work!! If I have to do it myself it will have to wait until I have time to take in it... :-/

Thank you again anyway!!

By the way: The photo of the patrol with At-St is crazy!!! Great! I have to show it to my "Sci-Fi-Star Wars-DF" friend... bwahahaha...

Hey ska what is the name of this paint that will not eat foam. I have to coat my foam in a strong wood glue mixed with black paint. I really like the texture on this " are you kidding?" I can't believe you just used a knife but I am also not used to working with the blue or pink stuff only white.
