I'll be entering... just gotta find time... a two-year old and a one-year old together are pretty much a handful!

I'd enter but I only have the Room and passage set out of the list of availables. A corridor with a room isn't much to go on. ^^;;;

Largely the same situation, but we have some singles of random elements from the other sets...

Forgot about this ... Thanks for the post gdmcbride (and great tower idea !!)
No problem and thanks for the compliment.

The Tower proved to be remarkably stable, surviving forty-eight hours of life in the same house as my two year old before I finally dismantled it. I was pleased about that. Getting all seven levels to stabilize and stand free sometimes required three hands (or four or five). This challenge for me definitely had a puzzle like quality.

Okay Okay. I have a chance... Well maybe. I just spent the last 2 days playing. I am going to post of Friday. How about that for a teaser...

My 7 year old just made me update this post. He was playing with dad the last 2 days. :-)

Which son playing with dad is exactly how my wife is letting me purchase more DF stuff to begin with. My son is not even 10 weeks old. Yet she says it is okay because we will be playing with it all the time. A way for me and him to bond?! :)

Fine with me right!

To keep it in track with the post I will be entering as well. Class ends for the first 5 week session on the 23 and the next one doesn't start till the 26th so I will have a window of opportunity to set it up. Plus I have slowly been getting my DF stuff into draws with labels on the front of what is in the draws so it will be easy to set stuff up and tear them down.

Wweist,

Nice work

My only recommendation would be slightly better quality pictures (perhaps some different lighting)?

I have to come up with a theme or backstory in order to build something. I thought I'd include my inspiration as well. I tried to build to playability with an rpg group.

“Did you know a farm boy with an arrow wound was brought to the temple today?”

“Hunting accident?” Said the elf smiling wryly. Snickers and grunts echoed about the fire lit table. Calmly the priest reached within this robe and tossed an arrow upon the table. Eyes bulged and mugs lowered at the sight of the wide shaft and oversized serrated iron arrow head.

Reaching for the arrow, but keeping hold of his mug the dwarf said. “Lucky boy to have escaped orcs. By all rights he should be in their pots now.”

“They didn’t seem interested in chasing him.” Said the priest, his eye reflecting firelight from within his hood. “He was shot while hunting in the hills near the Drakenborg tomb. He says two orcs emerged from the entrance and shot at him.”

The mage looked up from the parchment he was holding at an angle next to the table in order to catch the firelight. Shifting upright in his chair he said “That’s a bit of bad news. Think its chance or are they after the axe?” His wrists moved up and down working the parchment into a roll and tucking it away.

“What axe?” Asked the dwarf as he absently handed the arrow over to the impatiently clutching hands of the fretting halfling.

“Divinations indicate that this is not chance. Also, the Drakenborg tomb has a communion room.” Said the priest.

The dwarf furrowed his brow in confusion. The mage placed his hands over his face and rested his elbows upon the table. The halfling hoped no one had noticed that he had broken the arrow.

Frowning, the elf said “What does this all mean exactly?”

Between his fingers the mage could see the priest’s eyes turn toward him. “Alright.” He said removing his hands from his face and sitting up straight in his chair. Clear indications everyone was going to get an ear full.

“Fredrick Drakenborg led an army some two hundred, two hundred and fifty so years ago that destroyed a marauding orc force. The orcs pillaged the surrounding country side for some time and defeated several attempts by local barons and free cities to stop them. The orc warlord possessed a magical axe of some sort that seemed to give his rabble the edge.” The mage said. His last words aimed directly at the dwarf whose eyes could now be clearly seen under his ample brow.

“Lord Drakenborg and his army defeated the orcs and he became something of hero of the time. In the due course of time he died and at his request he was interred in the orc temple where he had pursued the orc warlord to and defeated him. The priests pleaded with his family to reconsider and place him in holy ground, but they would not disobey their late patriarch. They boasted that his spirit would sanctify the place.”

“Arrogance.” Said the priest flatly.

Shrugging the mage continued. “Regardless, it was well received by the local nobles and the tomb was expanded over time to accommodate their own deceased. The tomb was in use off and on for the better part of a hundred years until the emperor outlawed necromancy. Since the tomb had a communion room it was sealed.”

“So this communion room is evil?” Said the halfling feebly. His attention only recently focused on the conversation since the mentioning of ‘nobles’ and ‘tomb’.

“No.” Said the priest glaring at the halfling. “The communion room was a place where people could communicate with their departed loved ones. It was really harmless.”

“If used properly.” The mage eagerly interjected. “Communion rooms were controlled by the priest hood, but they are essentially a powerful magical device used for summoning.”

“Summoning what?” Asked the dwarf.

“Well.” The mage tapped his chin. “I guess whatever you know the name of and if you know where to look for it.” Said the mage, oblivious to the worried looks his remarks spawned around the table.

“There is no one locally who can deal with this.” Said the priest pointedly looking about the tavern at the villagers. “We can protect these people.” His face almost glowed with pious light.

Rubbing his beard the dwarf said. “Perhaps that axe could be of some use as well.”

“Orcs are a blight on this world.” Said the elf while staring into his cup.

“I’d very much like to see this summoning room. There is most certainly some magic there that is now lost to the world.” The mage added with a tinge of excitement in his voice.

“Yeah, and all those nobles…nobles remains… we can insure they aren’t robbed.” Stammered the halfling as the gaze of the priest doused his enthusiasm.

Lightly thumping his fist on the table the mage said. “Then it’s settled. Let’s leave in the morning.” Nods of agreement came from around the table. The Halfling jumped from his chair and began walking to the door.

“Where are you going?” Asked the priest.

The Halfling waved over his shoulder and replied “I need some more bags.”
