Did Jeff & Co. finally tick off that many retailers with their special direct sales that they are unable to sell through stores profitably anymore?


Rabidfox, that's an insanely crappy comment. Not only is it rude to the people who host this board, but it serves no constructive purpose whatsoever.

Selling directly through the website will allow DF to keep more of the purchase price of the products they sell, which will result in lower costs to us (or at least save us from big price hikes). Direct sales also helps the company connect with their customers in a way they couldn't before.

I really think you should apologize to "Jeff & Co." They are working hard to create a viable company that will continue to provide us with the products we love. All of us should be supportive of that.


Why in the world should I apologize for the truth folks?!?
I have ran into quite many more than just a few retailers in the travels I must do, that were/are angry, no, very angry, about all of the direct-sales sales that DF has been doing.
Most of them looked at this as a betrayal of the game shoppes by DF.
A good number will not even let gamers use DF product in in-store games now; that is how strongly they feel that DF betrayed them.
From the evidence I have seen, I am not too sure that DF really had much of choice about selling direct on-line; DF has made a fair number of retailer enemies, especially in the last seven months or so.

On a different point, can you folks not understand that there are a really significant number of gamers out there that NEVER shop on-line?
Through its decisions and actions, DF has now isolated itself from the money generated by these gamers.
In definitive contrast, we here of the DF-buying crowd, are the computer-literate and the WEB-comfortable when it comes to purchasing gaming supplies on-line.
With their decision to ignore, even abandon, the gamers unlike us, DF may have just shot themselves, not in the foot though, but in their thigh around the Femoral Artery, with this decision to only sell direct.
Only time will tell if they missed the Femoral or they are going to bleed out clear to death.
Direct sales of a physical product is almost always in the gaming industry, the provence of the larger companies.
Time will tell if this decision is sound business rather than just small-guy bravado.

Lastly, why must I, rather than many others here, have to apologize for an honest observation & opinion posted on this forum.
That sounds like prejudice and smacks of a double-standard!

With the sets being bigger they can fit a few more things into them to this may just be a great thing. That way they can balance the mixture out more so we don't get many things we just don't want. I wonder if with them not having to do retailers they can do more individual stuff since game store have a prob with all the diff packaging this may be good for DOE individual stuff? Maybe not since they just mentioned a expansion set of sorts. I'd still like a big fire place......Hope all goes well with these changing times DF.... " You must do what you feel is right of coarse ".

Since DF is going direct, can you please DF, get rid of the fancy, smancy colored boxes and completely go back to the white ones?
That way more pieces can be boxed together and the assortment in these boxes may be more useful together.
I feel this parting and parcelling of pieces into many boxes has not helped SF MM sales at all since they have absolutely no theme.
With just a box, two or even three of the fancy, smancy colored box variety, you almost cannot really make a useful room, let alone a facility.
With two-to-three white boxes of SF MM parts, one can start to build a decent post.

Anyway, here's hoping that the SF MM will completely be in white boxes soon.
Furthermore, here's hoping that DF will at least survive, if not flourish, selling only direct.
That way I can keep feeding my SF MM habit for many years to come! :D

I am going to take a chance with moderator and calmly answer your accusations here Yukon Cornelius.

Yukon Cornelius, I have been around long enough and geographically enough to see some serious errors happening here in this matter?
I will not go into the gory details now, but I truly believe we have all seen it if we had bothered to look up from our wallets and really think why we got that last Master Maze set or pieces at such a good deal from game shoppe "Z".
I sincerely doubt that there have not been many gamers here, who over the last few years, have taken advantage of such shoppe clearances' lower prices to increase their supply of whatever Master Maze they favor.
Why would there be so many clearances of DF product over the last few years from independent retail gaming shoppes, that are still doing well in the business, if everything between the independent shoppe owner/operator and DF and its products have been just hunky-dory Yukon Cornelius?

To my awareness Yukon Cornelius, DF has made a significant number of game shoppe owners and/or managers very angry or at least seriously upset in at least nine states with some of their actions, especially earlier this year and their lack of action at other times.
From what others have posted here on this forum in a variety of threads Yukon Cornelius, one does not need to really stretch to see that other gamers here have also seen this anger elsewhere in shoppes they are familiar with.

Why Yukon Cornelius, should we then hide the plain honest front-line feedback about their actions from DF in an attempt to be all warm and fuzzy here?
So they can make the same mistakes all over again later and aggravate and/or inflame other shoppe owners and maybe not be able to bounce back like DF is currently attempting to do so with purely on-line sales for now?

Yukon Cornelius, only an enemy of DF would let the mistakes ride uncommented, ignored and ready to happen again!

Yukon Cornelius, what I truly believe would be rude and showing complete disregard for Jeff & Co., would be to just blow sunshine at the DF folks just to keep them happy about how they feel and whatever they do.
It is truly shocking to think that persons posting here would not want to make DF aware of what is happening in their "neck of the woods" no matter if it is positive or negative.
Are we not all fans of the Master Maze product, just differing in our games and what Master Maze product we use?
Would not fans, true fans, want DF to know what persons in their local markets are saying about DF product and actions?
Need I remind anyone that DF is a small company that does not have a market research department of its own to keep track of all this, let alone go out and gather such information?

Who else is going to tell DF what is going on when all they can directly receive usually is from the small percentage of game shoppe owner/managers they may speak with directly at a con or such and the gamers they see at the very few conventions DF attends (one estimate I have heard from a guy at GAMA is that only 17% of all gamers make it to more than two major gaming cons in their life!).
The only consistent source of pro-DF feedback, whether it is good news or bad, they are going to get is from folks like us Yukon Cornelius!
Are game shoppe owners who are angry with DF going to talk to them at a meeting?
Not likely!
Please folks, remember two important business-proven facts: only 4% of customers who are angry with a company/organization ever complain to it; meanwhile 90% of such will never do business with that company/organization again, and they will without even saying a word of complaint to that company/organization.

Yukon Cornelius, if all we do is blow sunshine, who is going to tell any front-line news, good or bad, in the desire to positively aid DF?
If anything at all should drive the least among the posters on this forum to be honest with Jeff & Co., it is the purely selfish desire to keep DF around so that they can continue to crank out the gaming product most, if not all, here truly enjoy playing on.
Honestly, I do not see any other organization or group going to do this Yukon Cornelius.
