No, thank you.
I would rather keep the decor scheme consistent.

I have found very few quality prepainted fantasy furniture pieces by other manufacturers. In fact, other than a meager selection from Miniature Building Authority, I can't think of anything. Unpainted stuff is useless to me, and to a large section of the market, I think. I've found a few individuals selling painted or metal furnishings on ebay, but these are often low quality painting, or prohibitively expensive, or too fragile, or two or more of the above. Thus, more fantasy furnishings from Dwarven Forge would be very welcome. I have no use for the Sci-Fi furnishings, but I'm sure others do.

I understand zoroaster100's comments despite our different views & desires.
Some here would rather have more fantasy furnishings and have no use for SF ones.
If to get the necessary SF furnishings, we must also have new fantasy ones presented, so be it!
I want the SF ones!

I say for interior furnishings, more furnishings in "themes" is the way to go (and I am of course talking about the flagship Fantasy product!):

An armory
A throne room
A boudoir
A stable
A torture chamber/donjon

...etc!

Just got the News Letter and YEAH...

Sci-Fi Beta Set Coming in February!

While exact details are still sketchy, we are proud to announce that the long-awaited Sci-Fi Beta set will finally be here in February of 2006. Due to customer feedback, we are going to make this set a better value by putting it inside one of our normal, white, 1-tier boxes. This will allow us to include a lot more pieces for less money. We don't sell sets in stores anymore, so the packaging is not as crucial. We are passing the savings on to our customers. The exact composition of the set is still in flux, but included pieces will be one or more of: a Curved Passage Piece, a Curved Corner Piece, a Curved Floor Piece, a semi-transparent forcefield door insert, a Straight Wall (with porthole), a Computer Panel, and some cool extras like tables, chairs and other furnishings. More details should be posted within a few weeks. Thanks for all your great feedback.

as well as the same date for the Cavernous Water Set, and some info on Den of Evil (Wicked Additions) Set

As well as a teaser about another Set... i have guesses on that one, but that's it, i haven't been around since the begining so i'm not sure what everyone is begging for... i know what i Think it is ...

Good job DF!!!

I'd imagine the curved floor piece works more like the triangular one -- for the back of the curved wall, not the passage.

But for the record -- I would LOVE to have floor pieces to fill in the gaps around passages!

Oh, ok, I just did not think " for some reason " that they would never do a back for the curved corner. I can see where that might be especialy nice for Sci Fi and have huge round collums to climb up on. " nice for all the sets actually, " even Cavern ".

Well GS, I have been into Dwarven Forge since the beginning back in the mid-90s and I have no specific idea what exactly Jeff is talking about.
What might you think it is GS?

I remember back when the gaming group at The Armory in Baltimore in '98 sent an 11 page feedback report on the first five sets; we had put a month's worth of brainstorming into that feedback and lots of those ideas have been made by DF since.
Our report was in response to that little suggestion request postcard Stefan used to have in every MM box set; we just were really serious about giving our feedback - we even included sketches.
I wish I had kept a copy of it.

Like L, I too, would love to see "fill-in" floor pieces put out, especially, of course, for SF MM.
The "X" passage has an especial need for them, but so do other pieces.
I would also like to see some steps and some work gantries along with all of the SF furnishings I keep going on about.

Did anyone else catch the comment about DF not selling to stores anymore in the newsletter?
... . We don't sell sets in stores anymore, so the packaging is not as crucial. ...
I have mixed feelings about that, mostly leaning towards highly concerned.
Did Jeff & Co. finally tick off that many retailers with their special direct sales that they are unable to sell through stores profitably anymore?
Here's hoping that DF can do well AND grow on just direct sales.

Finally, I just hope that most that was spoken of in the DF Newsletter really comes to pass this next year.
SF Beta has been delayed twice so far, and I hope it will not be again.
Furthermore, SF Gamma really needs to be out before the end of 2006 to keep the momentum going.

Rabidfox, that's an insanely crappy comment. Not only is it rude to the people who host this board, but it serves no constructive purpose whatsoever.

Selling directly through the website will allow DF to keep more of the purchase price of the products they sell, which will result in lower costs to us (or at least save us from big price hikes). Direct sales also helps the company connect with their customers in a way they couldn't before.

I really think you should apologize to "Jeff & Co." They are working hard to create a viable company that will continue to provide us with the products we love. All of us should be supportive of that.

i hope they take the larger box approach for all the sets unless they are furniture/accessories/special sets. i was pretty disappointed with the smaller sets(not that they're not great too...) but i think the return to the old packaging would probably bring much appreciation from my group. more is more!

i'm glad that DF is moving towards online only. it seems to me like a product that most stores are reluctant to carry anyway(due to high overhead-inventory $$$ sitting on shelves). the money i save in gas driving out to richmond(imperial hobbies-the only store that carries variety of DF here) can go towards DF!!! hooray! not that i'm not gonna clean them out of their existing DF when it goes on sale. muahahahaha!

i am really excited about the Cavernous Water Set and the DOE wicked additions. those are both gonna be on my wishlist right around my birthday. sounds perfect! gotta mention that to the ol' lady... probably have to get them in multiples("ouch!" screams the bank account)

i've got a hunch that special set is gonna be the modular tavern. call it an educated guess... i might have to hold off on the grendel tavern pieces if this is confirmed anytime soon (hint, hint, nudge, nudge, Jeff).

also, jeff and stefan, a question: have you revised all the old sets to make them as useful as possible? in regards to the cavern set, i know that i would appreciate an extra straight cavern piece instead of 1 of the complex corner pieces. or maybe even axe the complex corner altogether and make it a single only piece. i'm sure you've recieved plenty of constructive criticism, so i'll leave it at that.

i'm trying to keep the posts informative to the good people at DF and positive in nature. i trust we can all do this, as we're all avid fans of this company.

as a sidenote: i gotta get that lazy paladin to download some of our pics!!! arrrrrgggghhhh!
