Since I was the first to say we needed an evil expansion set, here's the breakdown of what I'd like to see.

Set 1
Evil alter (1)
Evil Statues (4)
Evil Braziers (2)
Evil Pilliars (4)
Evil Fountain (1)

I would like to see a smaller room set release-I only bought to of the DoE despite how much I like them (how many 4 way intersections and 90 degree hallway pieces do you need?).

This is what I'd most like to see in a DoE expansion set:

Evil pillars/columns
Evil torture device
Evil bookshelves
Evil freestanding altar
Evil blood fountain (in the lava fountain style but not attached to floor)
Evil grand staircase
Evil statues

I definitely would like those kinds of accessories more than different building pieces. However, after getting accessories like the ones above, I would also be interested in a 6"x6" floor piece, a 6" wall piece, curved walls and Advanced Builder type 1"x2" floor, wall or passage pieces. I'm not really too interested in traps. I got the regular trap sets and rarely use them, even though they look nice.

A quick thought:

Looking through the posts, seems like MOST people seem to want accessories.

I wonder, though, if the forum members here represent the typical DF audience. I would imagine so, and yet there does seem to be a vocal desire for accessories here, while the accessory sets from the past don't seem to have been the most popular sets.

I do think, though, that people like sets to be flashy and interesting, not just walls and floors. That can feel kinda dull, however useful the walls and floors might be.

SO -- I'd say it might be best to go with a compromise set. Specifically, do something with lots of accessories, but not free-standing accessories. Have them attached to walls and floors, and have some interesting way of incorporating them. That way, what you have is a really cool "wicked additions" type set, rather than something that's JUST furniture.

One possible reason to do this: people can buy furniture elsewhere. They can get it from other companies, or some fantasy fans may simply be willing to go without. But a really cool stair piece, or anything else that's part of the building and not just an accessory -- they can't get that elsewhere.

I do like the idea of matching things to the Wicked sets --

mermaid fountain -- EVIIIL fountain
lava fountain -- um.... evil lava fountain?
spiral staircase -- grand staircase of EEEeevilll
demon archway -- big doorway of eeevillll

Of course, the Wicked sets had regular building elements, too, but I still vote for a minimum of those. We're going to HAVE a lot of building elements already -- I want things that are totally unlike what I already have. I want as many of the pieces as possible to be things that make me say "I am going to build my next setup entirely around THIS."

But, again, I think it might be a better idea to keep things attached to the walls and therefore incorporated into the design a bit more, so it feels more like a must-have item and not like "OH, well, I can get statues from so-and-so, and for less."

I like the ideas of the accessories. Though a secret door library shelf among bookshelves on a wicked editions floor would be cool (and right in there with the evil wizard's den).

Bookshelves with secret door on WE floor
Evil altar/worktable for cults/sorcerors
Gargoyle columns/pedestals/pillars - could stand in as statues or be stacked upon
Gothic flight of stairs, WE theme
Half walls on the horizontal (balcony theme for the grand staircase)
Evil large Double doors/grand arch - oversized
WE stained glass window inserts for archways and extra archways with door, window, or iron bar inserts.

I disagree with making accessories tied to floors and walls unless, of course, it is necessary for the piece to work they way it's desired to work. The more flexible a piece is, the more likely I'll want it. Sure, I'd look to using a grand staircase with the DoE sets I ordered, but I might also want to use it with my other Dwarven Forge stuff instead. While I agree with tying the DoE accessories to the theme of DoE, I don't agree with purposely making them difficult to use in other ways.

People who want to buy cheaper accessories elsewhere are going to do so anyway, but what I get from Dwarven Forge is high quality in detail and overall appearance, durability, and that the stuff is already finished and ready to use. I have no interest in accessories from other companies which I have to paint myself, and though I have bought stuff from others which DF doensn't make yet, I wouldn't hesitate to buy accessories from DF like the ones people have been throwing out as ideas here.

Of course, if the grand staircase, for example, only works well attached to an appropriate DoE type floor, that's just fine with me, but if it is possible, for example to do an altar or bookshelves that looks good on the DoE floors, but can be used elsewhere, that would be great. However, if the only effective way to do it is tied to floors and walls, I'll take what I can get.

Oh, and by the way, I forgot to mention in my prior post above that I also like the idea of a big evil throne as mentioned by a few others.

Although I would really like to see plenty of accessories (pillars, fountain, statues), I really think that some basic building pieces should be included too, such as a couple of 6" walls, a large floor piece or 2 etc. Although other users suggest that we will all have plenty of standard building pieces, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has only been able to afford to buy one DoE set (especially with the overseas shipping costs!)

I know it will be difficult to please everyone, but if you aim for a similar mix to the 2 existing WA sets, you won't be far wrong!

The problem is not that DF made furnishings sets that did not sell well; the problem is that DF made the completely wrong furnishings sets!
The fantasy MM does not demonstrate the need for furnishings that both the SF and DOE MM does.
DF made a bad business decision and made the wrong furnishings set.
Let us have DF make the right sets (SF and DOE) and then let us show DF that furnishing sets for SF and DOE will actually sell well!

Maybe you could add an evil looking desk/bookshelf of insanity-inducing literature to the list of accessories

I've herd many good ideas and have had all of my ideas reflected in them so I will touch on a few that will float my boat the most. I must first echo " L " in asking that you pay attention to balancing the mix so it will fit with the set or 3 that people will be limited to. So with that being said a strait Deluxe Room set would be as welcome as any to me " you could make the torches a skeletal hand holding up a skull with fire coming from it's eyes, mouth,,,etc " It could also include a rotating wall 4X4 that is a book/apothecary style shelves. Some of the ideas for a WA type set would be { 1 } A Gargoyle Fountain on a 6" wall. { 2 } A fountain or stairs on a 4X4 section. " this could be stand alone as well for use in other sets". { 3 } Set of 4 Gargoyle Pillars that could have a fire or coals burning atop them. { 4 } The idea of some very seductive yet horrific Gothic bed that is stand alone kinda strikes a cord with me. Ehem... { 5 } Big 6" or 4" double doors that could lead to the DOE would be nice. { 6 } A Spiral Staircase. " not the band ". { 7 } A big brooding Fire Place on a 6" wall or 4X4 Central Fire Pit would be fantastic " please pull this one off ". { 8 } A 6X6" floor section with a design that matches the corridors. Please entertain this other Idea I've not yet herd. A console that might look somewhat sci-fi'ish with buttons but also somewhat alive and writhing like a horror theme. I've seen consoles and the like in fantasy modules through the years " build by Dwarves or Gnomes or some way advanced wizard." Maybe like some of the stuff in that video game called MYST. This way it could easily be used in other sets... So would a rotating wall that is a book/apothecary type shelf set. I do however want some of these to be incorporated on to a DOE floor wall and such but some could be stand alone for some sort of compromise. Thanks for listening and for being so enthusiastic about doing a follow up set so soon.

Oooh, some really great ideas there. I echo the request for some kind of creepy evil torch brackets -- skulls or skeletal hands or claws with flames... And also a big fireplace.... big fireplace is a MUST. Supercool big fireplace with eeevil all over it.

I am Really Torn on this Discussion, because On One Hand we have a Need for things that will make the DoE interesting to use... But on the Other Hand No Set Thus far has been as well supported as the Fantasy sets, and this has already been deemed a "limited" edition so by default it is a Specialized set...

So The Good thing about Accessories is that they "Could" be used with other sets IF they are not connected to walls or Floors... on the Other Hand This would make them a little more Generic...

Either way I would really like to see this Set Supported in some way or another...
