Why no Amazon.com store? 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi guys. I'm a big fan of Dwarven Forge and want to get some for myself but the best way for me to be able to do so is through Amazon.com. Via that site I can add the stuff I want to a wishlist that I can view at my leisure and with the holidays now approaching my friends and family would also potentially be accessing that list.

It's not that I don't trust the Dwarven Forge site itself. I would like to be able to consolidate everything I want onto one site.

So my question is why doesn't Dwarven Forge have an Amazon store front?

Thanks guys.

They don't even have a retail presence except the website now. They used to sell retail, but could no longer afford to about 8 or so years ago. That was when I stocked up when stores were selling out. It was nice getting WE and room sets at $45-50! Got some off of Ebay also. Perhaps if sales build back up they can afford to do that again some day. Amazon would ask for way too much of a discount for them to sell through them I am afraid.

Amazon does give you the ability to add items on external websites to your wishlist. I think it's called "Universal Wishlist", and there's an addon for most browsers that helps you add things.

I'd love for them to sell at Amazon, even for an increased price, because I get Amazon "points" from my credit card. It would allow me to buy things I really want instead of the wife snatching them up and buying junk for herself! :)

If I'm not mistaken, Amazon fixes what you are allowed to charge for shipping, takes a flat fee out per sale, and for some categories takes a direct percentage over the flat fee as well. If you have slim profit margins, that would be death. What I have seen many gaming retailers do is put up either pricey stuff where it is worth it to get it to a bigger audience (pricey with nice margins!) or they are putting up stuff they want to get rid of and don't care about much beyond getting their investment back out of it.

I'm not sure Amazon would be a good tool for DF to move product. I have many ways to get nearly free Amazon money at a slow but steady rate, but I can't use it for Amazon Payments since it works like giftcards. It would benefit me if they started distributing through Amazon, but I doubt that it would work well for them. I should look into whether or not I can use Amazon to get Paypal money later... that could be helpful.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...
