Ogre's Den: Considering Purchase 1 Year ago
After backing the Dwarven Forge Kickstarter for Game Tiles, like many of the other new customers, I started looking into buying some resin sets.

I've purchased Hellscape sets from the website and currently have entered into a holding pattern waiting to see what core resin sets are restocked following the next Kickstarter.

While I've started to look at the sets listed on ebay, I don't want to make ebay purchases if there is any chance the product will be restocked by Dwarven Forge in the near future (1-2 years). Currently the treasure that has caught my eye is the Ogre's Den. The price tag is pretty heavy for a single piece, but the photos I've located make it really seem like an art piece (any links to better photos are appreciated, the ones I have found have bad lighting).

Anyway.... the Questions:

1. Is it accurate the Ogre's Den will never be rereleased? (i.e. buying it online won't take money out of DFs pockets)
2. (Those that own it) Is it as awesome/unique of a piece as it looks?
3. Is there a list of items/products that won't be remade?

Not the furniture, although that looks cool. It seems to be a Dwarven Forge product. Here is a link to it (sold out) on another site.

You can see the ogre`s den on heroquestfrance`s blog: link

It is to the best of my knowledge the most exhaustive directory of existing DF Sets (old and new).

eBay links:

and

I would certainly not spend that kind of money for a single piece, but that is me. I think it has been out of production for many (10+?) years. This explains the high price tag associated with its "collectability" factor.

Yeah, at the current list price on Ebay I can't see doing it. Missed one at $85 and thought I would get people's thought in case another came up in the $80 dollar range. Definitely can see doing more that the cost of a resin set. I would just buy a resin set.

When I was 12 or 13 my parents bought me a Room & Passage set as well as an Ogre's Den for my birthday or Christmas. That was before I even knew what Dwarven Forge was. Wow, what great gifts. Thankfully I still have my Ogre's Den (it didn't go the way of many of my other games/toys from that period of time). It is still one of the most impressive pieces in my DF collection, or even my miniature terrain collection as a whole. It has sculpted wooden floorboards where the nails in the floor keep the 1" grid theme.

If I was new to Dwarven Forge, I might seriously consider paying current prices for a copy. That might just be nostalgia talking, but unless they reprint it, there is nothing else like it.

My understanding is that at the time it had limited appeal- unlike other DF sets, this is a single piece, as opposed to being a modular set. Unlikely to ever be put back on the market. Its mostly a collector's piece, rarely seen even in set-ups of the most admired collectors on the forums.

Did someone mention Ogre Furniture?

Sold here in the Forum and also on Ebay?

Snicker Snicker...Snicker.....

I really wish DF would do more theme rooms like the Ogre Den but paying $170-180 is a bit steep.

Checked out the link, that is really cool. Made me revisit my thoughts on wondering why dungeon furnishings such as door, chairs, and tables aren't produced in larger sizes. I mean, I have whole giant holds to build filled with large and huge giants, they can't be eating at medium tables. Well, maybe as a TV tray perhaps but that's not what I'm going for. What can I do when my party gets to battle my gargantuan Orcus? Apparently he stands around all day doing nothing because, although he's a demon prince of insane power, he hasn't the authority to have a chair crafted to fit his size?

@keeblerorc those are cool pics, but it appears they are ogre style but not ogre sized. Is that correct? If they are ogre sized please point me in the direction I can buy them, but by the floor squares they don't appear to be

Hey Jim,

Those are Ogre Style and Giant/Ogre Sized....

I've sold a lot of them to folks here on the Forum as well as Ebay

To buy contact me at... johnkeebler@charter.net

The Large chair is 1 3/8" tall bigger than most 28-33mm humans and the Big Table is 2 3/8" long and 1" tall....
The Moonshine Jugs would hold around 30-40 gallons to a human.

Over all they have been a Big Hit! (Pardon the Pun)
