Do the KS Game Tiles have recessed bottoms? 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Looking at the introduction video for the kickstarter again, it looks like the Game Tiles have slightly recessed bottoms. Is this how the final products will be?

My only worry is that with uneven bottoms it may be more difficult to use pillars to prop up tiles for multi-level rooms. For example, if you want to place a pillar under the middle of a tile, it won't be propped up to the right height if the middle is recessed. It'd be great if someone could clarify this.

Due to manufacturing requirements, there is a very shallow depression on the bottom of the pieces. However, the indention is quite small it does not seem to make a noticeable difference.

Good to know. Good question & great observation.

Only time I 'double stack' one on another is when the underneath pieces are from the Narrow Passage sets. (They support in the corners)
Otherwise I use very thin sheets of mild steel cut to size. (2mm is really all you need as long as you have a support every several inches.)
Available cheap from ebay:

Thanks for answering this, and thanks for offering a potential solution, dandare. I know there will be few times you'll want to place a pillar anywhere other than the edge of a tile, but it helps to know what to expect.

Dandare, thanks for sharing! I always thought thin sheets of metal would be perfect to stack DF pieces but I never actually did the search to how thick these sheets should need to be nor where could I find commercially pre-cut sheets without sharp edges. Good find!
